Concern Grows Over College Gender Gap
posted by Matt on 10:50 PM March 29th, 2006
Education Joe Manthey writes "Article here. Excerpt:

'Joe Manthey: "If you look at who is filling up our jails, our juvenile halls, our prisons; who is more likely to be homeless; who is more likely to commit suicide; who is more likely to commit crimes; who is more likely to be institutionalized; it's boys and men."

'Manthey says men who make it to college don't get the same kind of encouragement women do. For example, most universities have support organizations for women, but nothing specifically for men -- even though the women are often doing better.'"

He also says college attendees and degree awardees will be 2/3 female by 2020. Heck, that's enough votes by ratio in the Congress to amend the constitution or impeach a president!

Whoa, what a world we are headed for. All those un- and under-educated men, many also thus un- or under-employed, hanging out in streets, coffee shops, still living at home maybe, or who knows where, 'cause we know they won't be married (wives who don't mind chipping in 80% of the income for living? A scarce breed indeed!) and how will they be able to afford housing the way it's going? ... jeezle-pete, I really do wonder what life's gonna be like for us all, when you add the 'aging population' problem to it all, too?

Kathleen Parker's right about this not being a world we're going to want to live in. And it's like this in Europe, too, only moreso! So if the trend doesn't end in 2020, too, what will 2030 look like? 90% of all grads'll be female maybe by then? And something like 1/5 or 1/4 of our population will be over 65?

Holy cow. The implications are truly mind-numbing. Really makes me seriously consider living in the dug-out side of a hill in New Zealand someplace, like some sort of hobbit!

A little reported upon phenomenon that has happened over the past twenty years is the systematic feminist take-over of higher education administrations.

(Recall that women are already 75% of all teachers and administrators in the K-12 system, and that any young man interested in being an elementary or HS teacher today must be out of his mind to face the "potential sexual predator" stigma that will be his label...)

Community colleges especially have been taken over by feminists, who now dominate the administrative roles of president, academic vice-president, deans, and department chairs.

Want proof?

Survey the administrative directories of the community colleges in your area. Just Google the school's name and navigate their web site.

"Real" colleges and universities are also well on their way to becoming taxpayer-funded indoctrination camps for feminism, though the boyz in the "hard" sciences are still advancing the Evil Patriarchy with actual scholarship and research.

Try to find a campus "Men's Center" anywhere amidst the clutter of women's advocacy centers, offices, commissions, clubs, services, etc. etc.

If you actually find one, please report back here!

Don't worry. This problem will soon be fixed. Those of Nancy Hopkin's ilk are working on this. In the case of Lawrence Summers, the charges (from Ms. Stalin) were that he had advanced the possibility that innate sex differences and/or lifestyle choices could contribute to the difference in the representations of the sexes in the hard sciences and engineering. These possibilities were deemed, a priori, bigoted.

The only choice left is that the differences observed are due, in totality, to (ta da!): male bigotry. It logically follows that any achievement by men that women have not achieved/surpassed is due to male bigotry.

The fact that they even held a conference to suppress...I mean discuss the issue, was a mockery. They could simply have mailed out the conclusion, appropriated the $50 million, and saved themselves the trouble and expense.

Considering the few women in the physical sciences, and the fact that the ones that were there were generally way nerdier than the guys, I remember as a science major and grad student that we would have *welcomed* an influx of women. There was one rumor of a prof who thought women didn't belong, but even 25+ yrs ago he was widely considered to be a dinosaur.

Yea, that Harvard episode was a travesty. Over half the science grad students are being imported from other countries and they're holding conferences on getting women in (which is pretty much futile without an actual draft) rather than conferences on getting men into these fields, which might actually pay off.

These articles tend to call a spade a heart, at best. They pay only slight mention, if at all, to the damage done by people such as Carol Gilligan and the education establishment -- sources that are now being looked to to help solve(!) this issue.

To really understand what has been done, I have to recommend reading a couple of books by Christina Hoff Sommers. Most readers are familiar with her writings, but new readers should become acquainted. The books in question are 'Who Stole Feminism?' and 'The War Against Boys'. They provide excellent preparation before reading articles such as this.

I have yet to see a serious attempt at refuting the material in either one of these books. Have I vetted every reference? Contacted every source for a rebuttal? No. But the preponderance of the carefully presented evidence is damning. I doubt that the majority of it can be refuted.

I just finished the book "The War On Boys". Christina Hoff Sommers lays out the case for why we are headed down this road. And nobody in the US seems to care about this. Certainly our scumbags in DC in both Parties could give a damn.

Meanwhile Family Life is imploding in the US. We have kindergarten aged children giving oral sex on school buses in NJ. Open Season on minor Males by Female Teachers in our Schools. Judges slapping the hands of offenders and giving them almost no punishment for sexual abuse of Boys. It is unbelievable how far we have fallen.

We had an incident locally that broke about a year ago which didn't get the national attention other cases have. It involved a 30-something HS English teacher and married mother of five. The affair had been going on for almost two years and was reportedly well-known amongst the students before an adult authority caught wind of it. The perp lost her job but otherwise got a mere slap on the wrist from the prosecutors in this right-wing conservative religious community - a suspended sentence or probation or some such nonsense. So much for the patriarchy being really hard on women who transgress their assigned role... Perhaps this is viewed as being some sort of nurturing behavior.

Now the kicker is that the boy/victim is so messed up that a few months later he ended up at the woman's home, a heated verbal incident ensued, she got a restraining order against him, and I believe he's facing charges for disorderly conduct, making threats to do bodily injury, and the like.

If a female HS student went back and actually murdered her slimeball male rapist/teacher she'd be a hero, but this poor kid's just gotten deeper into trouble.

What's even worse is that it's not really a topic of discussion or even much of an issue in the community, just more backpage news.

It's like Barbie says: "Girls can do anything!"
