Joint Custody to be the Norm in Italy
posted by Matt on 11:49 PM January 31st, 2006
Fatherhood Marc A. writes "The Italian Senate just approved a new law that will make joint custody the norm in Italy. Excerpt:

"The legislation makes joint custody of children the norm when parents split up. This means single-parent custody - which usually goes to the mother - will now only be granted in a minority of cases."

Some fathers' rights groups, however, point out that the bill is too watered down."

Even though there is a few problems with this law as described in the article it is amazing. I for one will be curious as to how the law is implemented and enforced after it takes effect. At least it is a step in the right direction. Congratulations to the Italians! Another chink in the armor perhaps?
