Mother chops baby's leg off with an axe

	Tirryb writes "News.com.au reports here that a mother chopped her own 20 month old son's leg off with an axe. Although she's been charged with attempted murder and other minor charges, she's getting help of course (diagnosis rather than punishment). Quote: "...court heard police had shown her great compassion since the attack... The court was told the mother would be taken to the Thomas Embling secure hospital rather than be kept in prison while on remand." And, the father is now having to fight for custody with her parents... Where is the justice in this world..."

Another one for the "DUH!" file... (Score:1) by Thundercloud on 01:13 PM December 9th, 2005 EST (#1) They're having trouble deciding who should get custody, the Father or the Mother? Gee, Yeah, I can see where this would be a tough decision. (sarcasm) In a world not gone insane with female worship and political correctness, this would be a NO BRAINER...! But, unfortunately, that's NOT the world we live in, today. *shrugs and walks away*   Thundercloud.   "Hoka hey!"

Equality (Score:1) by Davidadelong on 11:21 PM December 9th, 2005 EST (#2) I suppose that if there was a valid mental reason for this heinious action that compassion would be in order. But, that same compassion would have to exist for Men that suffered from a mental disorder that did something similar. But of course we know that compassion in the courts is usually found only when a Woman is in the "hot seat". Until then we should lobby for the same treatment of Women as Men in the courts. Without equality there is no justice!
