DV Litmus Test
posted by Matt on 09:03 PM October 31st, 2005
Domestic Violence frank h writes "It seems that there is now a litmus test to identify men who are potential batterers, as studied by Florida Atlantic University and described here. There was no mention of such a test for women. What's interesting is that I found this (via WND) in a Scottish newspaper, not an American one."

These indicators are consistent with many of the women I dated in the early 90s. I left the relationships because they were so violent and possesive.

So, you see, it does work both ways!!!!

There would be a lot of women in big trouble if this test were applied to them. Somehow, I feel it won't be. It appears to be just another gender feminist tool to bash men.

Yes, Feminism is all about controlling men.
That's what I think this is, too.

Warning signs

THREE traits identified as top of the list in predicting domestic violence:

1. Checking up on a partner or "vigilance". Behaviour such as making frequent calls to establish a person's whereabouts or "dropping in" on them unexpectedly. Rated behaviour most likely to signify violence.

2. Emotional manipulation. This involves actions such as a man saying he would "die" if his partner left him. The second strongest warning sign of violence.

3. Monopolisation of time and threats to punish infidelity. This rates lower but is another behavioural trait of violent partners.

It's pretty amazing that all three of these "indicators" for (male) domestic violence" very precisely describe how FEMALE ADOLESCENTS
use their personal power to manipulate and coerce and control their girl-friends!

I agree. After my first abusive relationship, one of the things my shrink did was give me a DV test. The whole thing was written with gender biased language (female victim, male agressor). He told me to ignore the bias and just take the test.

While I don't think the test should be biased in its language, it doesn't change the usefullness of the test as a personal tool for men.
