Amnesty finally responds, but still ignores the truth of DV
posted by Matt on 09:47 PM September 23rd, 2005
RADAR Project On August 17, RADAR sent a five-page letter (.pdf file) to Amnesty International – USA about its Stop Violence Against Women Campaign, complaining that the campaign violates the basic human and civil rights of men.

When Amnesty didn’t bother to respond, RADAR put out an Alert on September 19, requesting people to contact AI. The folks at AI obviously got an earful, because three days later – that’s warp speed for an organization like Amnesty – AI head Bill Schulz answered. His letter is shown below.

Amnesty finally responds, but still ignores the truth of DV

Clearly Mr. Schulz still doesn’t understand that men are often DV victims, and that men are often turned away by VAWA-funded programs. But at least we got his attention.

RADAR will be following up, and we will keep you posted.

Dear Mr. Geanoulis,

Thank you for your letter concerning Amnesty International USA’s Stop Violence Against Women (SVAW) campaign. Our international SVAW campaign aims to push governments, institutions and the public to take responsibility to stop violence against women. AI bases its work on the UN Declaration of Human Rights which states that all of us are born free and equal in dignity and rights and that women and girls are entitled to enjoy their human rights and fundamental freedoms on a basis of equality with men and boys. In addition, the organization works for implementation of UN human rights treaties and the recommendations of treaty bodies that state that gender-based violence, including violence in the family and community, is a form of discrimination against women and that this violence is a major obstacle to women and girls’ ability to enjoy their human rights and fundamental freedoms.

To further our goal, AIUSA supports Congressional reauthorization of VAWA. VAWA was a major ground-breaking step forward in the U.S. government response to the epidemic of violence against women in our country. VAWA is gender neutral. Since its inception in 1994, VAWA has provided immeasurable help to women, children and men.

VAWA funds have been and will continue to be available to violence victims regardless of gender; male victims have frequently received assistance from VAWA funded programs. VAWA 2005 contains improvements to ensure it addresses the broadest range of victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.

We believe VAWA has already made a great difference by helping to train and educate officials and the public and by creating programs to support families who are suffering from the effects of domestic violence. We encourage all Americans to take action to end the suffering caused by domestic violence, whether perpetrated against men or women. Bill Schulz, Executive Director
Amnesty International USA

Aaaargh - did they get the gist of the complaint at all???

It's like banging your head against a brick wall.

They understood the complaint full well. Amnasty is no more a Human Rights organisation than is NOW. Perusal of Amnasty's web sites shows it following a political agenda which is similar to the feminasty agenda.

The letter shows typical feminazi logic i.e. that their obligation to treat both genders equally obligates them to treat men unequally.

For A.I.'s Executive Director Bill Schulz to claim that VAWA is gender-neutral and that many men have received services through VAWA funding clearly shows that he believes men are fools to be manipulated.

Schultz is practicing the BIG LIE strategy of mind control and spin, refined by Joseph Geobbels, Hitler's famous Minister of Propaganda:

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." (J.G.)

The line about repressing dissent should remind everyone about how the Senate's VAWA reauthorization hearings were rigged to prevent any non-compliant testimony; and the House cleverly attached VAWA 2005 to a massive appropriations bill, thus avoiding entirely any legal requirements for a hearing on VAWA.

If this is democracy, then we must live in the United States of Amnesia nowadaze...

nonsense

sgt. schulz understands these things perfectly

he doesn't care, he doesn't have to, and his (non)response to your points rubs your face in both those realities

> But at least we got his attention."

lol

dood, this is a form-response, crafted by some femidweeb in his Public Information/Media Relations Office

at most, he may have signed-off on this before it went out (tho often even this isn't bothered with in larger organizations, esp at the v low priority-level of correspondence)

trying to include men in the Abuse Machine and its fed-funded pork is doomed

the VAWA is a WEAPON for use against uppity MEN -- not an instrument of egalitarianism and justice

you can't turn the VAWA into a "male-friendly" tool . . . like the congresspunks, these goons are lifelong experts at sending well-meaning folks on snipe-hunts thru the System

you will NEVER "out-abuse" females in america!

it's a MATRIARCHY, bro . . . any authentically male elements of the System that you're relying on for redress of grievances were stamped out decades ago

the way outta this mess isn't to beg our mistresses and masters for seats on the Abuse Train for american men, but to run that Train off its tracks

then wave buh-bye (and take pictures!) as it plummets down to the bottom of the Snake River Canyon

in the mud and the muck where lies and traitors belong

The thing is . . the help provided is measurable, where else do they get their Stats from ? And, the problem with the help being measurable is . . that precious little has been afforded to men . . but they won't publish such figures.
