Progress But... A European Pill Will Be On Market (Score:0)

It's good to see NIH (i.e. Congress)granting a meager few millions to research for a male pill, after billions of tax-payers money has gone into women's-only health initiatives.

The academic experts in Kansas will be lucky to complete their research on mice before a European pill hits the market.

But then, the U.S. government will block the sale of a proven male BC solution until an American alternative can be marketed.

(Assuming that feminist lobbyists don't shut it down entirely.)

It's really all about the pharmaceutical profits.

It's really all about the pharmaceutical profits.

Major drug producers haven’t yet seen an opportunity for net gains from a male BC pill.

Since only one partner need use BC the result on the business (assuming there actually were significant sales) may be the cannibalization of the female pill market. The results would be a company absorbing the costs and risks of a new drug without seeing a net business benefit.

If there were a clear opportunity to make money from it we’d have had a male pill many years ago.

I appreciate this argument, but haven't seen any evidence yet that the drug manufacturers subscribe to a zero-sum profit mentality.

Else why do we have today such a competition in sexual libido-enhancing drugs for both men and women?

I don't believe that a male pill would diminish the market/profits for already proven female BC.

The male pill would be used either (1) as a redundant extra back-up BC method by married and monogamous couples - or- (2) as an insurance policy by single and/or adulterous men who are already using condoms and assuming their female partners are also on BC pills.

This is not an either/or market, but an and/both profit proposition.

Does anyone have a link to any studies about pharmaceuticals profit analyses or male attitudes about accepting a male BC pill?

India already has RISUG in clinical trials and it is not hormone based.... and it's easily reversiable.
