RADAR Alert: North Carolina Program Shortchanges Abusive Women
posted by Matt on 09:02 AM June 8th, 2005
RADAR Project The Winston-Salem Journal recently reported on a domestic violence mentoring program for boys. If it's a good thing to teach boys that violence against women is unacceptable, one would think it should also be a good thing to teach girls that violence against men is unacceptable. Surely something is needed to counter the images Hollywood bombards us with showing women self-righteously hitting men, sometimes for a slight insult, sometimes for no reason at all.

North Carolina Program Shortchanges Abusive Women

The Winston-Salem Journal story tells us the city of Winston-Salem, N.C., Wachovia Corp., and Sara Lee Corp. all think that only boys need to be taught this lesson. Yet it's certainly a lesson that both sexes need to learn. The U.S. Dept. of Justice reports that 36% of those physically assaulted by an intimate partner are men. Clearly the women who physically attack these men were never taught that violence against men is unacceptable.

Girls who learn to think of violence as "empowering" never learn to control their anger, and when they grow up it's not just their husbands and boyfriends who pay the price. Their children suffer as well. The fact that we don't think girls need to learn to control their anger helps explain the fact that mothers are more than twice as likely as fathers to be sole perpetrators of child abuse, according to the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services.

If Wachovia and Sara Lee were truly public-spirited corporations, they would arrange to have mentors teaching girls as well as boys to keep their inclination toward violence under control.

The Winston-Salem Journal chose to applaud this one-sided program as something that "targets men in a positive way". They could have instead helped open people's eyes by pointing out the bias inherent in the programs, and suggested that Wachovia, Sara Lee, and the city of Winston-Salem should stop shortchanging girls with abusive tendencies.

Since they were too blind to see the bias, we're asking you to write the Winston-Salem Journal, and help open their eyes. Tell them:

  1. Girls need to be taught that violence is unacceptable every bit as much as boys need to be taught that lesson.
  2. The U.S. Dept. of Justice reports (.pdf file) that 36% of physical assaults on intimate partners are perpetrated by wives or girlfriends.
  3. The U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services reports that "40.8 percent of child victims were maltreated by their mothers acting alone" whereas only "18.8 percent were maltreated by their fathers acting alone"

Great subject line but the stress I feel should be on the abused men and boys and how they are being ignored/left to be abused. Too many topics are spun in the mainstream press as "shortchanging girls/women" when in fact the primary fall guys for whatever is going on are men and boys.

The fact is that the Lace Curtain (Feminist Media Cabal) is prohibiting the Men's Movements complaints from being heard. Phil Donohue had Warren Farrell on his show on MSNBC and was one of their highest rated shows ever. Then Phil was uncermoniously shown the door. If you are Pro Male you will be kicked to
the curb. Even Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity on Fox are afraid to take on the FemNags. You see who is scared is their advertizers. They don't want to lose their revenue stream. Women are their biggest customers. And shows that are perceived as anti-Female threaten their revenues.

Bernard Goldberg in his books "Bias" and "Arrogance" talks about this. Why has the media refused to acknowledge the Elephant in the Room with the Atlanta Courtroom killings? Answer you cannot attack Feminism in America. We have become PC again. Our voices are not heard on the MSM. It is only on the Web where we have a voice. And on Right Wing Talk Radio. Tom Leykis is the only Liberal who is Pro Male. The rest are all P Whipped.

Exactly. But don't blame the advertisers. Women will retaliate against any TV company ( or any corporate body) whom they think is denigrating women. Conversely those companies can shit on men as much as they like, and we dumbo males won't do anything. We "take it like men".

The sponsoring national organization behind this targeting of boys is the San Francisco-based FVPF. Their web site is at -- http://endabuse.org/

I challenge anybody to find one single line anywhere on this vast and sophisticated site that mentions domestic violence against men, male victims, female superiority in commiting child homicides, or any aspect whatsoever of violent women.

This appears to be a well-funded, well- connected feminist lobby front, using the orchestrated DV hysteria to shill dollars for a vast array of anti-male "programs" disguised as helpful social services.

The newest initiative cited above by RADAR is an ideological assault to criminalize boys, who will be told in no uncertain terms that they are all potential abusers and rapists.

This is all I could find on their site:

Court Dismisses Lawsuit Against CA Shelters

"In a ruling that pleased domestic violence service providers... Court of Appeal in California ruled unanimously... lacked standing to sue Los Angeles and South Bay-area domestic violence programs because they do not provide shelter to men.

Clearly, males are 2nd class citizens in their minds.

Seems the party line they're giving right now is that Ray had no standing because he wasn't CURRENTLY being abused. All we need to do, then, is find a man who IS currently suffering in an abusive relationship and get him to file the same charges.

I have serious doubts that females were ever all that nice, they just covered their violence under a thin veneer of lady like pretensions, and hide it from view behind a shield of chivalrous male denial and bigotry.

The man-hating, hypocritical bigots in the gender feminist movement (male and female) should look at female violence before they point the finger at others. Considering how they cover up female violence (to the detriment of victims of violence) they are highly despicable, vile creatures devoid of integrity and humanity.
