"According to them, in `violence against women' cases, the man is usually presumed guilty unless proven innocent. This encourages women to make false accusations"
Tell me about it. This is what brought me here. My vindictive ex had a nice arsenal of weapons to unleash on me via DV laws when we broke up.
Hopefully other men who had to prove their innocence or those who had to accept guilt as I did despite lack of evidence will come forward and fight the hate laws.
One phone call, I was not even around and we were not even fighting and I found myself locked behind bars with convicted felons for a long holiday weekend (4 days) as bail can only be set by a judge (In MA).
DV advocates, biased DA and judge. I could not even put a defense together locked up chumming up with a repeat drunk driver while waiting.
No evidence. Not needed. Words alone are enough to get an assault charge. Story can change, modified...whatever. I just sat there and shut up as the appointed lawyer told me to do (my one phone call was answered by a machine and this was all I got). When I was out, and back to deal with the charges, by own lawyer said that I can not win by proving my innocence! It will make me look vindictive and it is not worth fighting. No jail sentence of record now, but I had DV programs, 4 days chained up and a long probation (oh yeah and the name in the police log) for doing nothing leaves one with a bad taste for the state of justice (just ice) in this country.
DV laws seek to punish a man before the facts. This I know. As an upstanding man who happened to marry a bad woman I should not have spent 1 minute in jail waiting for bail. When evidentiary standards are dropped, there is a constitutional crisis at hand. The "system" doesn't care. The system is set up to punish any man at any woman's whim. I was the fresh meat for the day that would end up funding the hate industry that attacked me. DV laws = man hate hysteria.
