Court throws out $88.5 million award to Anna Nicole
posted by Adam on 09:05 AM January 1st, 2005
News bandersnatch writes "From USA Today, A federal appeals court Thursday threw out a judge's ruling that awarded $88.5 million to former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith from the estate of her late husband, an oil tycoon who died at age 90 just over a year after they wed. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled a Texas probate court's decision that the oilman's son was his sole heir should stand. The appeals court said the federal judge in California who ruled in Smith's favor in 2002 should never have even heard the case. Now if we could only get family courts to recognize that some women are only motivated by financial greed."

I am glad to hear that this blonde big tit gold digger is not going to get her loot. There are humourous aspects of this case. She trapped, or so I have heard, the 90 year old Texas oil millionaire when she was 26 and was working as a topless dancer. Her stepson who has refused to settle with her is old enough to be her grandfather!

With all this classic golddigger foolishness aside, I do not understand under what legal theory this case is being tried on the Federal level. I thought the Federal Court system was overburdened with a huge backlog of cases and not enough judges and court space? But somehow this case gets heard and ruled on again AND AGAIN?!?!

Personally Thundercloud, I prefer 'fat-golding bimbo-whore who give all women a bad name'. Sadly, some girls look up to this bimbo-sow and will do exactly what Anna did in order to swindle innocent old men (and all men) out of their money. The parasitic behavior of some women and girls who use their sexuality (and gender) to get what they want and manipulate men, will unfortunately continue for another generation.

Hello Ms Thea,

Since you are studying law I would hope you would have the answer as to why this silly soap opera of a case is being adjudicated on the Federal level.

It seems to be a huge waste of supposedly scarce Federal legal resources. I have heard that many more important cases on the Federal level go for years without being tried because there is such a huge backlog.

I'm not sure why it's a Federal Case. My best guess would be since it's about a will, inheretance, property, and large sum of money. But I can tell you that our legal system is all about how much money you have and how good or not good your attorneys are. If you have bags of money and a Johny Cochran as your attorney, then you have the ability to drag things on and on, even at the Federal Level. Even if it is a waste of a Court's time and Federal resources.

That's why the court system is so backed-up with frivolous lawsuits and appeals. I really never paid attention to this trial because it was such a soap opera and an embarassment. As if I really wanted to see a classic case of a gold-digging whore trying to make money off of her late elderly husband.

Neither the son nor the trophy wife earned that vast fortune. As there's no one remotely sympathetic involved, I'm cheering for the lawyers and the courts. I hope they eat all that money up.
