Desperately Seeking Quote to Rebut DC Post
posted by Matt on 10:26 PM December 30th, 2004
The Media DemandingJustice writes "Sorry if this isn't the right place for this request, but I looked all over and couldn't find any other way to submit it.

I'm writing a lengthy article to rebut The Washington Post's recent articles on "murdered mothers", and am trying to find a particular quote that I had stored away some years ago, but (of course!) cannot find now that I need it. I'm hoping that a MANN reader might be able to help me.

The quote is by a woman, I believe a university professor from New England (or at least the northeast). In it, she says *something* like: "Feminism has done more damage than any other movement in history and most of this damage is irreversible [or maybe "permanent"]. PLEASE, I've spent the past 4 hours looking for it on my PC and on the web ... does ANYBODY remember seeing this statement anywhere? THANKS!"

I think it was Christinna Hoff-Sommers (Score:0)

"Feminism has done more damage than any other movement in history and most of this damage is irreversible."

To the best of my recollection that was Christinna Hoff-Sommers. I can't remember if the book was Who Stole Feminism or The War on Boys She has lectured against gender feminism on college campuses on the East coast, and even in Arizona, through the Independent Women's Forum (IWF). Here is the link to Independent Women's Forum

I'll see if I can find the quote maybe I marked the page.

Sincerely, Ray

Yes I think your correct that it was her and my memory is telling me it was something to do with a lecture she gave in which she was almost bundled off the stage by the feminist supporters.

On this site, http://www.fathersforlife.org/pizzey/anti_fem.htm you find an article by Erin Pizzey. She wrote this;

"I believe that the women's movement internationally has been the most extreme and the most influential cause of the destruction of family life in this century"

I googled around and couldn't find that precise quote, though a couple others might lend some ammunition and/or additional research...

"Feminism is doomed to failure because it is based on an attempt to repeal and restructure human nature." (Phyllis Schlafly)

"If civilization had been left in female hands we would still be living in grass huts."
(Camille Paglia)

Try a search, think it was said in a lecture.

Wanted to thank those that responded with these suggestions. I didn't find exactly what I was looking for, but found some other great stuff while looking through Hoff-Sommers 2 books.

Thanks!
