False Accusations AngryMan writes "Home Secretary David Blunkett has lost his career as a result of his battle for access to the child he believes is his. He went to court to get parental rights, the child's mother responded by making allegations of corruption, and he was forced to resign.

Corruption? He allegedly expedited the visa application of the child's nanny.

Funny... mommy wasn't complaining when they were together. Now, mommy wants to keep daddy away from his children desperately, so she'll turn around and betray him in any way possible.

That jsut goes to show. Do know favors for the woman you are with; she'll only use it against you later.

Ok,

I admit it, I got the "ditz" thing going, and I completely admit I don't understand Brit politics and the woven fabric of our brothers/sisters "across the pond" .... but..

DAMN!

This guy is BLIND (I never knew) and a STRAIGHT UP guy. I mean, he was single right? Seriously, correct me if I'm ignorant, I'm a big boy. I can take it.

He's single, had an intimate relation with a woman, they had a child, and now he's trying to be included.

What's up with this "child he believes is his"? crap? Has he tried to have a paternity test? Was it positive? Can a Brit fill me in?

Ummm, I'm LOST on the "scandal" part.

Ok, he's a "liberal" but he's an AMAZING man who (HE's BLIND) got an encyclopedic mind and is standing up to BE a dad.

WHAT am I missing?

Steven,
What you say is right. He was born blind into a very poor background. His father was killed in the workplace when he was a child. He entered local politics and rose to become the mayor of Sheffield. He eventually became part of Blair's government. He's a single man. His marriage ended some time ago, he has adult children. He had an affair with this Kimberley Quinn woman, who is married.
Mrs Quinn, 43,who is said to have been attracted to men with status, moved to Britain in 1987 with her first husband, Michael Fortier, a millionaire banker when he was transferred to London. He later said she had had "a string of affairs" during their marriage, one of whom was with Stephen Quinn, the publisher who later became her husband...

One of Mr Fortier's relatives commented that although the family loved her at first they realised swiftly she was "someone who is nice to your face but hateful behind your back"...

On their first meeting Mrs Quinn is said to have told Mr Blunkett that she had always wondered what it would be like to sleep with a blind man...
Blunkett apparently tried to persuade this woman to marry him. I think he has been extremely naive. She is obviously a predator, and it was never going to end well for him.
David Blunkett is claiming that her 2 year old son is his. She denies it.
Mrs Quinn has not accepted he is the father and Mr Blunkett, who is taking legal action to secure access to the boy...
He won the first round of the court case. The court ordered that DNA tests should be done:
Mr Ryder upheld a district court judge's earlier findings that it was in the child's best interests to have his parentage determined at the earliest opportunity by a court ordering scientific tests. link
Then stories were leaked to the press that Blunkett had used his power to get a visa for Quinn's Filipina maid. Emails were found which seemed to prove his involvement, and he had to resign. It looks like she took him out. She was no doubt perfectly happy to have her maid with her when it suited her, but when he went to court for paternity rights she wanted revenge and used it against him. She sounds like some kind of sociopath if you ask me.

Could you restate your point, Steven? After all your time online, can you possibly still be surprised when stuff like this happens? Politics in the UK is just like politics anywhere else - your enemies will use anything they can to try to bring you down. Wikipedia is right up to date on this - Bio of Blunkett with some history on the so-called 'scandal'

It's pretty much the same issue that sank Bernard Kerik - any politician who is responsible for immigration has to be squeaky clean WRT the people they have hired in the past.

This guy had to fight just to have a DNA test on the child. Who's your daddy? Doesn't matter as long as some man is willing to pay. No male available? DNA test all males in the neighborhood!
That men around the world put up with this crap is unbelievable.

Leave it to an American wh*re to to over there and spoil things for the Brits. How very noble of her, to pick on the blind (David Blunkett, bless his heart) because otherwise he'd have known what a fat cow she is and passed her over entirely. She should try to pick on someone her own size, like me. I'd surely dump her after only one f*ck.

Herein lies another lesson: avoid the American woman. Unless she is vetted very carefully, any broad from Europe, Asia, Africa, maybe perhaps Australia will do you better. Brits and other non-Americans should be especially careful, not knowing their bratty and privelidged ways.
