In a letter to ManKind this year, Baroness Scotland of Asthal, Minister of State at the Home Office, told the charity that she would not meet it to discuss support because “funding is very limited”.
That one sentence displays the sexism and bias in government. She wouldn't even meet with the officials at the men's shelter. A simple meeting doesn't obligate government to fund a shelter or program, but she was unwilling to even sit down with the shelter officials and discuss it.

Sadly they cannot discuss men's issues, however, they can furnish Women's Aid with £22.9 million for shelter provision and sponsor other women's needs !
Incidently, despite the fact that most men have no-where to turn for help, the police, hospitals and social agencies dismiss them, and even ManKind's Crisis Line only operates 2 per day - men have still formed over a third of all reported victims . . . I just wonder what the percentage may be if furnished with the same level of support afforded women ? ? ?

Just a little something worth a try...try to point out that contrary to projections, battered women's shelter have reduced violence toward men at a faster rate than violence toward women. And perhaps giving men driven to utter despair an alternative to killing off their family and then committing suicide just might be a more cost effective option....already been there eh?....excuse my naievity.
