Marcel Shurman's anti-male greeting cards

Inequality mens_issues writes "Marcel Shurman's anti-male greeting cards Today I was at the Border's at the Flatiron Crossing mall in Broomfield, CO. I stopped by the greeting card section to see what was available. There were several cards by Marcel Shurman that could be considered misandric:"

If you wanna "read more", I think you can guess where to click.

- A card with a photo of a fat man on the beach next to a hippopotamus.

- A card with a photo of a woman carrying a man over her shoulder. The caption said something like "A rummage sale is a great way to get rid of useless stuff." On the inside it said "Such as your husband."

- A card with a drawing of two men. The caption said "There are two kinds of men - nice guys and jerks." On the inside it said "The nice guys become jerks later."

- A card with a picture of a man ironing. The caption said something like "The good news is that there are men that iron." On the inside it just said "You know the bad news." (Let me guess, the card implies that men that iron are gay?).

- A card with the caption "Fortunately, you only need to know three topics to have a conversation with a man." On the inside it said "Him, him, and him."

To be fair, there were many cards that were cute and creative, but the presence of these five cards spoiled the effect for me, and I would never buy a card from Marcel Shurman (though I wonder if you can buy a card, photocopy it as evidence, then return it to the store - "It turned out I didn't really like it.")

There is a "Contact us" option on this twit's homepage, but the cards in question weren't displayed.

Shurman's site

I noticed a book in the store titled “I still miss my ex, but my aim is getting better.” Nice.

As I walked through the mall, I checked in on Claire's to see the status of the "Boys are smelly" line of goods (ironically, something sure smelled bad in the store today). It was heartening to see that the display had dwindled as it was sold off, but there were still some of the offensive items there. (Claire's decided a few months ago not to reorder David and Goliath merchandise, but to sell the remaining stock.)

As I walked by a store called "Limited Too" I noticed a few signs saying "It's a girl's world." Well, sure it is, thanks to three decades of misandry. Make that four.

Thats how things work in western societies, so surprised?, no way.

In 1972 Esther Vilar (a woman!) published a book called The Manipulated Man. It was reprinted in 1998.

Her introduction to the reprinted book, together with the first chapter - which is short.

To what extend is what I described over twenty-five years ago still relevant to the "new woman" and the "new man"?

Here is a list of issues which I recognised in the original book to be men's most significant disadvantages compared to women.

1. Men are conscripted; women are not.

2. Men are sent to fight in wars; women are not.

3. Men retire later than women (even though, due to their lower life-expectancy, they should have the right to retire earlier).

4. Men have almost no influence over their reproduction (for males, there is neither a pill nor abortion - they can only get the children women want them to have).

5. Men support women; women never, or only temporarily, support men.

6. Men work all their lives; women work only temporarily or not at all.

7. Even though men work all their lives, and women work only temporarily or not at all, on average, men are poorer than women.

8. Men only "borrow" their children; woman can keep them (as men work all their lives and women do not, men are automatically robbed of their children in cases of separation - with the reasoning that they have to work).

As one can see, if anything, the female position of power has only consolidated. Today a career in the military is also open to women in many countries - but without conscription for all.

Many achieved for themselves the right to practice their job for the same number of years as their male colleagues - however, the retirement age was not increased for all of us. And now as before, it does not occur to the underprivileged to fight against this grotesque state of affairs. Only as far as the sixth point is concerned, has there been a significant change. In the more entertaining spheres of work, there are more and more women who happily and willingly work and still keep their jobs despite having the children they nevertheless desire. But only a few of these women would be prepared to offer a life of comfort not only to their children but also the children's fathers, supported by their often substantial salaries; and fewer would further be prepared, in case of a separation, to give up their home and offspring and support the next admirer with what is left of her income.

As absurd as it may sound, today's men need feminism much more than their wives do. Feminists are the last ones who still describe men the way they like to see themselves: as egocentric, power-obsessed, ruthless and without inhibitions when it comes to satisfying their instincts. Therefore the most aggressive Women's Libbers find themselves in the strange predicament of doing more to maintain the status quo than anyone else. Without arrogant accusations, the macho man would no longer exist, except perhaps in the movies. If the press stylise men as rapacious wolves, the actual sacrificial lambs of this "men's society", men themselves, would no longer flock to the factories so obediently.

In the meantime, however, there are already a few feminists who are talking also about men as human beings, so the continuation of this discussion may not have to be conducted quite so loudly.

Well for 99% of men the only way to get wealth is their own effort, for women there is legal plunder, marriage, a way to obtain wealth without having to work for it,not in islamic countries ofcourse, women marry up, and women live longer than men, (women are not send to wars, and 95% of work related death are men, less stress, four times less suicide, etc).

This is why, anyways it is a statistical fact.

Who makes more money the pimp or the whores he exploits?, the pimp make zero, nothing, he is a parasite, but who gets the money?, ......the pimp.

Who collects more cotton the black slaves or the white masters?, who keeps the cotton?.

Cheers!!

Yes, I was wondering about the men are poorer than women claim, too. I've read that in the US, the people with the highest net worth are women, and I believe it. When you figure in the fact that women inherit their husband's wealth, that divorced women receive generous settlements, that women live longer and receive retiree benefits for a longer period, and that low-income women and mothers receive more gov't assistance, maybe it's true that women have greater financial resources than men on average.

I've seen that slogan on their TV commercials... for those that haven't seen it, it consists of a parade of girls around 12 or so (some on horses [unicorns?] or wearing princess outfits) marching down a street (while this modern 'twinkle' fairy-ish theme plays. An older woman (compared to the 12 year old) narraror saying "What if there was a world made just for girls?" and something along the lines of "now there is" and as she was saying "Limited Too" I muttered under my breath '...the United States and their legal system...?'.

Meh. The problem with treating all girls as literal princess deserving of worship is that they age to think they are all worthy of being queens.

Well, don't forget, they are also being taught that they are GODESSES, too.
Boy, I'd love to be at that 'come-down party' when they learn the truth.
