Dr. K's divorce
posted by Hombre on 09:21 AM August 19th, 2004
News Kyo writes "Former Mets and Yankees pitcher Dwight Gooden and his wife are divorcing, and despite the fact that they *as a couple* have shown themselves unable to manage their assets, the judge seems to be setting his ex-wife up nicely, forcing Dwight to turn over close to 60% of his current salary as a Yankees advisor to her. It's not going to get any easier for Dwight to pay his wife $5,929 per month, is it? Article here."

Dear Tech Support:

Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0. I soon noticed
that the new program began unexpected child processing that took
up a lot of space and valuable resources. In addition, Wife 1.0
Installed itself into all other programs and now monitors all other
system
activity. Applications such as Poker Night 10.3, Football 5.0, Hunting
and Fishing 7.5, and Racing 3.6 no longer run, crashing the system
whenever selected.

I can't seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting
to run my favorite applications. I'm thinking about going back to
Girlfriend 7.0, but the uninstall doesn't work on Wife 1.0. Please help!

Thanks,

A Troubled User. (KEEP READING)

Dear Troubled User:

This is a very common problem that men complain about.

Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0, thinking that
it is just a Utilities and Entertainment program. Wife 1.0 is an
OPERATING SYSTEM and is designed by its Creator to run EVERYTHING!!! It
is
also impossible to delete Wife 1.0 and to return to Girlfriend 7.0. It
is impossible to uninstall, or purge the program files from the
system once installed.

You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed
to not allow this. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under
Warnings-Alimony-Child Support.
I recommend that you keep Wife1.0 and work on improving the situation. I
suggest installing the background application "Yes Dear" to alleviate
software augmentation.

The best course of action is to enter the command C:\APOLOGIZE
Because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command before
the
system will return to normal anyway.

Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance.
Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean and Sweep
3.0,
Cook It 1.5 and Do Bills 4.2.

However, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use
will cause the system to launch the program Nag Nag 9.5. Once this
happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to
purchase
additional software. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Diamonds 5.0 !

WARNING!!! DO NOT, under any circumstances, install Secretary With
Short Skirt 3.3. This application is not supported by Wife 1.0 and will
cause irreversible damage to the operating system.

Best of luck,
Tech Support

What caused Mr. Gooden to believe when he ask this golddigger to marry him that the alimony, property, child support rules didn't apply to him? I doubt if he could have gazed into the future and see that within a couple of years he would be obligated to buy oats for this dead horse each month at the tune of over $5K per month or go to prison he would still have asked her to marry him.

So what is it that makes most men believe that this garbage only happens to other men and not them?

I expect that feminists will soon be "training" judges to identify prenuptual agreements as signs of abuse. Prenuptials will be thrown out of court and the husband will be doubly punished.

Hi folks, this is my first post (and that was my first article).

Gooden and his wife got married in 1987, which means that he was only about 22 or so. How could he ever guess that as soon as his pitching career was over, his wife would dump him, yet still expect to receive his money as if he were still a major leaguer?

We saw the same thing happen with Michael Jordan (though I have no idea if Mrs. Gooden ever cheated). How crushing it must be to face the fact that Father Time has caught up to you and you're no longer the great athlete you onve were, and then to lose the person you love most at the same time, to whom you've devoted your life. To then lose your children, and to have to pay this person money for years while you yuorself have no way to guarantee a large income, makes for salt in the wounds.

Shame on these selfish wives of athletes. Marriage is supposed to be for as long as they both shall live, not "as long as the man stays famous keeps pulling in the millions".

I don't know if this was California with the new permanent alimony laws, and a prenup isn't worth the paper it is written on if anything changes in the marriage, like kids.

So, the wife gets $1.39 million in assets, the four kids, and $5929/month in alimony in child support while he's making $100,000/year.

$100,000/year is $5500/month after taxes. So she's getting every thing he earns, and every month he digs a little deeper into his assets? How is that fair?

I believe the logic behind it is "He made more than $100,000 per year before, he can do it again."

Clearly, whoever came up with this idea is an idiot. They don't take into account that a person may never again rise to a previous income level.

Beedle, I hadn't even thought of how much Gooden would be paying in taxes. I suppose the court just assumes that George Steinbrenner or someone in the Mets organization will take pity on him and arrange for more work for him, while his wife basically enver has to work again until the kids are grown. Disgusting.
