Police Web Site Prints Photos, Addresses Of The Accused
posted by Hombre on 09:58 AM June 14th, 2004
News Anonymous User writes "This article is about the Dallas Police Department. They`re posting pics and other info of alleged johns. I guess if they`re guilty or not doesn`t matter. I don`t know if they`re posting pics of the hookers. "The DPD is posting pictures on its Web site of people busted for allegedly soliciting prostitution.""

"It is important, likewise, that the habits of thinking in a free Country should inspire caution in those entrusted with its administration, to confine themselves within their respective Constitutional spheres; avoiding in the exercise of the Powers of one department to encroach upon another. The spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers of all the departments in one, and thus to create whatever the form of government, a real despotism." - Hamilton Abert Long

I don't have a big problem with the cops posting the faces and names of CONVICTED johns, but I DO have a problem with them posting the pics of ALLEGED johns.
I'm not too crazy about them posting the ADRESSES of either, though.
Well, as I've recently added to my tag line, we are, indeed the "outlaw gender"!

They are showing pictures of the prostitutes as well as the johns. At least there are a few womens pictures in amongst the mens. Most of them have been charged with Public Lewdness rather than Prostitution.

But they aren't releasing the addresses of the prostitutes. They'll only do that to men. The government should be outright sued for this. Someone should even arrange for the arrest of a female John (or a "Jane") and see if the Jane gets her address disclosed to the public in the same way.

Yeah, damn men and their libidos. Instead of attempting to pay women for sex, they should buy videos of guys who pay women for sex. I guess prostitution is ok as long as you videotape your encounter and offer copies of it for sale to the general public. Maybe you could use the Dallas website as a promotion tool.

Foolish TLE, everyone knows husbands should be paying their wives for sex! That's why alimony and child support are consistently so high, to make up for all the sex women performed in the marriage.

Hmm. If wives are paid for the sex they performed, then why is alimony so high? No, alimony is payment for all the potential sex that may have theoretically occured throughout the marriage, had the wife been maintained in a state of total bliss, as she expected.

Well, when I took it, 50% said it was a good idea to post pictures of convicted, 18% said only the accused, and 32% said no photos. If I remember right.

Anyway, I have a large problem with this, as what the hell does it accomplish?? I can understand, to an extent, Megan's Law [at least I can understand the concept if not the application] but the only point of this law seems to be make an official "Hall of Shame." Maybe thinking "they'll never do it again if we post this!" :P yeah right. Sorry, I don't think there is any reason behind this other than to make fun of johns, and johns don't deserve it. Not that I've known any, but there are plenty of other crimes that seem more important.

First of all I would like to point out that making prostitution illegal was one of the original three goals of the Women's sufferage movement (liquor and gamboling being the other two)

In Canada the fact that this was a bad idea has become so apparent that there is a federal law reform commitee looking at repealing all prostitution related offences.

One local daily here made it a policy to publish the names of all Johns charged in magistrates' court. The same paper routinely carries a couple of pages of "massage parlour"and "escort service" ads every day...thereby living in part off the avails of prostitution. When I pointed out this hypocrisy I was informed that prostitution is not illegal in Canada per-se...only the public marketing and trafficing in it.(????????)

I have often wondered why it would be illegal to buy (or rent) that which is perfectly legal to give away. I am certain that if some woman was on a street corner giving it away to strangers that feminist lawyers would move Heaven and Earth to defend her right to do so.

I have gone far beyond any feeling that men who use prostitutes are exploiting these women....the men are the ones being exploited.

(click) LAPD

Go To "Press Releases," then click on, Courtney Love Arrested.

If you also go to "all freqently asked questions, then the domestic violence section, then dig a little under the "cycle of violence" you will also find a completely gender biased version of the Duluth Wheel so the LAPD is still predominently comprised of gender biased bigots, who profile men as primary aggressors according to instructions they receive by domestic violence trainers.

LAPD, to prejudiced to service, to incompetent to protect. That's why the corrupt LAPD is being "watched over" by the Federal gov't. as we speak. Sounds like some of the police in Texas could use some "watching over" by higher authorities.
