	Daily Nation and Telegraph.uk have uncovered a story in which they reveal... "Human rights activists have encouraged Kenyan prostitutes to submit fake rape claims against British soldiers" "They told me that if I said I was raped by British soldiers and showed them my baby then I would get three million shillings [£30,000]," Miss Muguri said. "I would take two million and they would take one." "I know none of them was raped. The fathers were either British soldiers or tourists or white Kenyan citizens. If a child looked partly Indian we would tell them to say they were raped by Gurkhas." "Another prostitute, Rose, who has two mixed-race children as a result of liaisons with Italian tourists at the coast, refused to say she was raped, despite attempts by activists to persuade her." "However, lawyer Martyn Day maintains that most of the claims are genuine and is set to continue with the legal action on behalf of several hundred Samburu and Maasai women." Anyone want to make some money by claiming Martyn Day raped you?

Here it is again (Score:1) by LSBeene on Friday October 03, @06:39PM EST (#1) (User #1387 Info) Once again the problem is one of REWARD for claiming to have been raped while no DETERRENT is there if the charge is false. -----There should NEVER be a reward for having been a rape victim. I can't be convinced of it. When the "reward" of rape charges are just revenge, divorce advantage, or attention the false allegation "cottage industry" was bad enough. NOW (and N.O.W.) wanting to REWARD a woman who makes a claim for rape. The incentive is there for ENORMOUS abuse. -----A lack of deterence for false allegations?! Why don't we declare "no theft day", tie up the police, open Pier 1 and Macy's, and hope against hope that the 'moral gentler-sex' wont empty out the store by midnight. Might as well ask for it to rain gumdrops on Halloween. We have laws and punishments (though sorely lacking in teeth) for this. To remove the punishment for a crime is about as sensible as Electing a battering proto-lesbian to the Senate. Shit, it happened. Anyways ------And, how about a little DNA evidence? I mean PROSECUTERS (here in the US) can get one more easily than Dworkin can get a tongue bath from her live in facial sponge buddy. But, when the prosecuter thinks it will hurt the case men like William Hetherington go to JAIL to hang out with bubby the butt buster. Not to make light of Will Hetherington, exactly the opposite. Most dick-cutters think prison is "going away". I can't speak for the laws in Kenya, but I'm definitely going to write my legislators and ask for a law here making it a mandatory minimum sentence of 7 years with a cap at life in prison for those making false allegations of sexual offenses. Whether or not rape took place, Western tourists or military personell who take advantage of desperately poor people in developing nations, and leave behind more problems by abandoning the children they created, are despicable creatures. Obviously if there are this many mixed race children abandoned by their fathers as a result of sex, there was unprotected sex going on. Even if there was no rape, there was a sort of callous indifference to the plight of poor persons and to the overall situation which is desperately poor in many places, particularly in Africa. Taking advantage of people who are in a much different economic situation, and then leaving them with MORE responsibilities (not to mention leaving kids behind in this situation) is simply immoral. If many of these children turn out to be a result of British military prescence there, the UK at the very least should pay reparations to the children,offer them dual citizenship ... something ... as we eventually tried to do with Amerasian children left behind after the Korean and Viet Nam campaigns.
