Ann Richards "joke"

News Dave writes "Gentleman, Ann Richards, the former governor of Texas, made violence against men the subject of a most disgusting "joke" today (26 September) at a ralley of women for Gov. Davis in the Los Angeles area. I have not been able to locate any report on this on the web. Her story was: the economy is bad all over, it is so bad in Texas that women are now carpooling to run over their husbands! Can you believe this?!! This was shown on L.A. local TV news tonight. I hope that some of the media pick up on this, and all decent concerned people make her a pariah."

This is why I've reconsidered my loyalty to the Democrats over the past half dozen years or so. It's why I've become convinced that some of our liberal friends are as hypocritical, bigoted and sexist as the worst of those on the right.

I think it's become demigraph. They know who votes for who and why. Much like with the marketing demigraphs. They know who buys what and why.

Men often get the short end of the stick for some simple reasons.

I left the Democratic Party after Ann Richard's performance at the 1996 Democratic Convention. I think we should start referring to people like Ann Richards and Hillary Clinton as "femagogues". It fits perfectly.

SO LOAD UP THE LIMO GIRLS, YOUR PIMPS OF LAW ARE AT THE WHEELS AND LOOKING FOR INNOCENT MEN TO MURDER, AND MAKE JOKES OF.

Much as in WWII Germany, brutal thugs like Ann Richards and her ilk use the law, not for equal justice for all, but as a tool to wield their hatred for selected groups of people, in this case men.

The brand of feminism that Ann Richards alludes to in her "joke" is as abhorrent a pseudo-science as the "master race" and "eugenics" programs that the Nazi's practiced in WWII. Anyone who practices, supports, or even reports (without condemning) such hatred is as guilty of hate crime as any Nazi in WWII.

Here is the letter I sent to MSNBC about this:
Dear MSNBC,
I am saddened and sickened by your article. When Gov Ann Richards makes "humorous" comments about running men over with a 2 ton piece of iron its not "typical biting wit" (as characterized by the Houston Chronicle), its sick humor that makes light of Domestic Violence perpetrated against men. DV is an issue that I take seriously. Unfortunately there is little effort to show sympathy for or for our legal institutions to take action against these batterers. These days men face several hurdles in even getting police and law enforcement agencies to take Domestic Violence against men seriously. After hearing what Gov. Richards said is there any reason to wonder why? Arnold Swarzenegger is getting blasted for putting a robot woman into a toilet in a movie, but Gov Richards is described to have "typical biting wit" while describing what happened to a real person. Domestic Violence is a major problem for men too. Often when a man reports it, HE is arrested even if shown to have bruises and cuts from his spouse/girlfriend/partner. Your exact quote is:

''I know you all are worried about the economy in California but I want to assure you that it's all over the country,'' she said. ''In fact in Texas the price of gas has gone up so high that women who want to run over their husbands are car-pooling.''
The remark drew big laughs from the crowd of mostly women. It was an apparent reference to the case of Clara Harris, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in February by a Texas judge for running over her unfaithful husband with her car.

The link to the report is below:
http://famulus.msnbc.com/famulusgen/reuters09-25-2 24149.asp?t=XXENT
Men who are the victims of Domestic Violence are often portrayed as being "deserving" of their abuse, maiming, or death. As a society we largely do not ignore women who are beaten or abused, but we routinely ignore male victims or even blame them for the abuse they suffer. Shelters are not set up for men who are beaten, women use the threat of DV charges to control men in relationships, and false DV charges are used in divorce proceedings. Your news angency should have reported Gov Richards as having made light of DV and violence against a spouse. No one asks to be run over and crushed by a car. The victim being male is not funny nor is it excusable.
Also, Sen Clinton is a confirmed batterer. In a biography written by a friend of hers she was confirmed to have thrown an ash tray at her husband and to hit him with it. She once scratched his face during a domestic dispute. If these were "justified" then please write an article on how men can do this. Have the courage to put that into print if its acceptable. My bet is you wouldn't dare. But here is a US Senator who commited DV against her husband (whether he was an adulterous scumbag is irrelevant, unless you advocate that men can do the same to women) and you make NO MENTION of it whenever she brings up men/women's issues. How about a little fair reporting?

Thank you for mentioning this. The hypocrisy of the Femicrat party stinks to high heaven.

The Family Violence Prevention Fund uses taxpayer monies to print bumper stickers that say, "THERE'S NO EXCUSE FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE," but Hillary Clinton is excused. Ann Richards and Hillary Clinton both belong in the Family Violence Prevention Fund's "Hall of Shame," but then the Family Violence Prevention Fund belongs in its own Hall of Shame too.
