Activists' Activism

The Media Today , as I do often in a year, I put an ad in a local paper that reads: "Learn how biased and misleading "research" can discriminate against you or someone you love. For info email: profair@rogers.com". I advertise in the Penny Saver which circulates about 40 000 papers once a week and costs about $7.00 a week. This time I am running the ad for about 3 weeks. It works. I usually send respondants my speech, which covers a variety of poorely made public policies that discriminate against men based on bad research. I try to be gentle in my delivery while nailing the facts of the matter. I urge anyone to do it. And I have to commend Ray, a member here who has a sign on the back of his pick up truck. Ray drives around L.A. ? with this giant sign. If you've seen the pictures you know what Im talking about. Handing out pamplets is another good way. Everything helps. Reaching new people is key.

Dan, would you share with us approximately how many inquiries your ad generates? Also, I'd like to see the speech you send them. Would you be comfortable posting that here or should I email the address in the ad?

Actually the piece can be reached at the URL I provide on my name. Father's For Life hosts it.

Secondly , I get several responses via email or phone when I post my home number. Not only that, but in this city I am very well known. One way that I work is that others see my ads and discuss it at work. Factories, and everywhere else for that matter that men are usually found and free to talk.

Sometimes I make my ad somewhat crytic which causes people to ask "what the fuck is he talking about?" Other times it's point blank.

It goes under the as for 'wrongfully accused ' usually. Since men are clearly accused in the justice system the most I know who it appeals to the most.

The odd time I will get calls and questions based on theft etc.. but rarely murder as it doesn't happen to often here. I do get a huge volume of people who are fighting with children's services who are all men confronted with marxist feminist public policies. They are amazed at how society treats them.

I advance the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault primarily when I deal with research. I feel they are the main subjects, especialy domestic violence. Once done this opens up a whole agenda of topics for me to dish out.

My city seems to be very 'thought controled' when it comes to anything in the area of feminism. By finding a way to speak about the subjects without lasback would be nice. Most men around here see the double standards but no one can lead them.

Maybe one day I will do the pick up truck idea like Ray. I have had endless amounts of comments on my bumper sticker from men's activism. All positive, from men who see what's going on.

I always aim to be delecate with women on the issues, most of them will listen I find. It takes extreme amount of tack to do this. I know many men do not have the patience nor feel they should have to, I choose to because I feel it's effective.

I am also a toastmaster member where I give speaches. It's a great place to learn public speaking and develope skills related to that feild. What I have ingeniously done is passed my speech around to some of the members one on one and asked for their feedback and if my speech would be approriate for toastmaters.

It is irrelevant to me if they agree with me right off. The truth is hard to ignore forever, but at least they had a chance to hear the otherside. If I have a good majority members who I have had read my speach covertly I have a good majority for me to read my speach to. The toastmasters claims to be about democracy and the freedom of speach.

There are feminists in the midsts. One in fact works for the sexual assault center in the city. She hasn't been there but she is a perpetuator of biased statistics that I inform people about.

I don't feel as though I have to convert people all at once. All I want to do is have the truth be told. If I am wrong, than I will admit it. But if they don't have the otherside how can we determine the truth to make good public policy democratically?

Ray's move is one of the boldest I have seen, but anyone of us can do something, at low cost and low risk. People are reading my speech and hearing my views one way or the other. There is another paper I think I'm going to advertise in called 'The View'. It's a bigger market and widely read.

Finding ways to get your point across even if they don't request info is extremely beneficial as well. Remember, politicians and judges read too. So do the police and other agencies. Exposing these bad , biased public policies for what they are is the first major step.

I just got this address (for contributions to Dr. Farrell's campaign for Governor) from one of Dr. Farrell's campaign workers:

Dan:

Thanks, Perhaps the funniest moments are when I've driven all day and forget that I'm in a vehicle that's sticking out like a sore thumb. More than once I've seen a driver staring at me and had it pull me out of my day dream.

We're starting to do some work on T-shirts, and are finding that this is also a very excellent way to get the word out. We create the transparancies in Microsoft Publisher and Word and print the iron on transfers on a bubble jet printer, then iron them on. As we get better we'll send out some more info. We've designed about 10 or 12 different ones so far, and made over 60 T-shirts that we've given out.

We use digital photographs of gov't bldgs., clip art, scanned images, and some creations directly out of Publisher.

We even scanned a political button from 1909 of Mr. Lincoln, the one we have on our flyer (see NCFMLA web site). We were able to get it in color on a T-shirt with the words, "The 1st Presidental Victim of Domestic Violence. It came out beautifully. "Hang this on your D.V. movement 'clothes line'," I thought to myself right after I finished it.

The thing I really like about the T-shirts is that they are conversation stimulators. If your a little shy like me, it's a great ice breaker. People ask you questions, and it's really great to have them open up a conversation about something you feel very personal about. I always try to keep a spare flyer in my wallet for when I run out of stuff to talk about, or there just dying to know more. I hand them our flyer with info, phone # & web address and say, "Check us out some more and you're welcome to be a part of us, visit us, or just ask us questions."

Most everyone thinks there should be a men's movement, but seem kind of reluctant to be in it.
Maybe as it becomes more mainstream it will seem more natural to them.

"Most everyone thinks there should be a men's movement, but seem kind of reluctant to be in it. "

It's a tricky situation. People have basically been brainwashed to do nothing. Accept for women who are politically motivated (brainwashed) to do lots. Most of which just denies people their rights and destroys democracy.

You will get all kinds. Some will dissagree and some will agree. And oddly it isn't one sex over the other as often as you think. So I suggest not to make women the target or an enemy or even predetermine what you think they believe.

The idea should be to get both men and women talking to eachother and embracing a solution together. Ferrell advocates this and I believe he's right.

This is why feminists stick to rape and started with rape. Rape is essentially described for women as victim only.

Hey, did anyone ever see that movie with Hurcules? Where the men were getting ready to die and the Amazons were preparing for battle? Hurcules got it all wrong and had to go back in time.

Anyways. Some women will admire you for standing up for your rights as a man. Others will berate you and inquisition you at worst just ignore you at best. As the old saying goes, "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinagar".

But in our case we have to at least say something to get it going. If a T-Shirt does it for us, so be it.

I am reading a book right now called 'Brainwashing in Red China'. The author descibed the 'Cold War' as one of pamplets and party slogans instead of bombs and missles.

This war for us is a Cold War. The mass distribution of information. Feminists started this war and because of Friedman's indoctrinating virus it was led off on the wrong foot of misinformation which led to venum.

The men's movement I'm hoping will stick to the facts the truth and a just morality. And yes I know it does put a greater burden on us. But we're men and we can take. Men have done more to built some of the greatest free nations in the world. We can't stop now because our women are brainwashed to hate us.

Thank you. As a woman who lurks here but is very wary of posting, I can say that I have a really hard time not taking many posts as personal attacks (hence the not posting, as it is my problem, not yours). I agree with the issues, I see there is a problem, and I bring it up to people on a daily basis. It would be really good to be able to feel like part of the cause, not part of the enemy.

Anyways, I live in NY and other than making a donation I don't see any way of helping Farrell out. Is there anyone in other parts of the country doing anything on this particular issue?
Thanks, Jen

You're welcome. It's easy to take things as personal attacks, it's not isolated to women, many men here feel the same way.

This is why it is so difficult to bring up the issues of domestic violence. Men will say 'well we have prof that women are actually committing more domestic violence, and at equal rates with men'. Women often take this as a personal attack which it is not. What can frustrate men is that women often don't see the reverse where they state that all men or that most men are abusers as a personal attack. They regurgitate it as fact.

I understand this works both ways, something we should all understand. I believe that we are purposefully being divided against eachother and pitted to a war of the sexes. But I will have to present my full case another time.

I'm really glad you posted, Jen. If you are worried about doing something for the cause I want you to know you've done a wonderful thing already.

We need more men and women willing to discuss the issues point blank and objective. This will take an enormous amount of energy, strength and patience above all else. Discussions of the patriarchy and who was oppressed and what. The re-vised history as well as supressed history will be difficult to overcome. Those who crank the wheel of feminism hate one concept thing more than anything, and that concept is 'forgiveness'. This doesn't mean you have to give in and let anyone walk all over you, because that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying there are a hell of a lot more women out there like Jen than we realize. Given the truth I would like to think that most people would act fairly. Which is why women are lied to so much about things like DV and Rape it is designed specifically to get a certain response from women. I call this Pavlov's Feminists.

Thanks Ray. I only wish there were a 1000 more like you in the Men's Movement, our work would be done in no time.

Actually I think we should consider donating to Rays' trip across america awarness foundation.

Ray will drive from coast to coast with a sign on his truck.

How much would it cost do yu think? Raising awareness and collecting donations to keep him going. That would be fucking brilliant. Perhaps some of the men's activists could put him up for the night on his journey.

You're welcome to come to Canada Ray and stay here while on your trip.

Even though I'm joking I think it's an amazing idea.

Maybe Ray could start with short trips for now. go from one major city to another. Just drive around for a while. Have coffee, lunch and chat with whomever is interested.

We are all also reluctant "Teachers," "Instructors," "Professors," "Educators," Believe it or not it is much harder to be a good teacher, than to be a student. It really puts you on the spot to know what you're talking about. I would highly recommend it for anyone. As Dan said above, "stick to the facts the truth and a just morality." The really fun thing about teaching is that, being on the spot, you learn much more than you would just sitting in a chair as a student. It's great to be challenged (unless you're a G-fem). It forces you to uncover all of the information and facts so that you can give the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Surprisingly, as Dan says, the reponses of people are generally positive. Again, it's really a lot of fun to get the issues out their in the public forum, the court of public opinion.
