News bernee writes "This article in the Sydney Morning Herald outlines how the Australian government is suffering somewhat of a rebound from legislation originally formulated to ‘protect’ battered wives. Immigration legislation was amended to allow foreign spouses who were being sponsored by Australian residents special treatment when it came to getting a visa if they had been subjected to domestic abuse. It seems many women were abusing the system (surprise, surprise). Being the egalitarian society it is, law required the Australian legislators to make this legislation gender neutral – of course, only women are abused, aren’t they. Lo and behold men are now applying in droves for protection under the law."

Interesting article. I noted the "Russian wives" got a mention in the latter part of the article. I think this should be food for thought for those who advocate foreign wives as a solution to the marriage nightmare in feminazi societies.

Just a note: "foreign wives" and "mail order brides" are two completely different things.

With mail order brides, it's reasonable to expect that their motive could be to just get out of poverty. Some may come to love their husbands, but others may be quite happy to dump the guy as soon as possible. What they really wanted was the visa (and if they can get the man's house, that's a bonus).

Foreign women in general, on the other hand, can be met in any number of ways. A relationship develops and marriage is the result. Now, foreign women run across the whole spectrum of personality types, so "foreign" isn't any guarantee of a having a happily married life; care still has to be taken to find the right woman. What it does mean is that if she comes from a non-feminist country she won't be indoctrinated into feminist propaganda and anti-male attitudes, won't scapegoat men at the drop of a hat, and won't have huge chips on both her shoulders. This is what makes foreign women attractive.
