I used to have to do these surveys as a teacher, when I worked for public schools. I was told I had to fill out Cuacasian, Black, Hispanic, American Indian, Pacific Islander, Asian, etc. as appropriate for each individual student. I was also told that I could not ask the student the obvious question, "Which one of these categories should I put you in?" Supposedly I looked at each person when I took the role and got it right. Guess again Uncle Screwball. Some of the people weren't in class the day I did the survey and with some of the people you just couldn't tell so I often just guessed, and I'm sure there were mistakes. Now that some states are proposing legislation that says you can dress as a drag queen I guess the next time I get some guy in a class with a beard and a dress I'll just put down female.
When I turned in those gov't surveys I would just smile, while a little voice ran through my head saying, "Welcome to the melting pot, fools." "Your survey has proven wrong, what I've been telling my classes all these years. There really are stupid questions."
