CBS "60 Minutes" talks about Title IX

Inequality CJ writes " The "Lace Curtain" (feminist tilted media bias) seems to be ripping at some of its seams, but only a little... "60 Minutes" did a story on Title IX. The report pointed out the gains women have made in sports since it was passed, and about the impact this has had on men's athletic programs - basically non-revenue generating men's sport programs have been eliminated on many campuses to meet gender quotas. Of course feminist groups are organized to oppose any reform to Title IX and their viewpoints were a big part of the news story. Title IX was created to stop gender bias, now it is used as a tool to eliminate men's sports despite student interest and participation levels - just to maintain gender quotas, and it is enforced by feminists interested ONLY in the well being of females. Lets support the cause and contact “60 Minutes” with good words for their effort…"

I'm a fan of women's athletics. I just don't want to see male athletes suffer. I don't want to see Title IX completely revoked; I just want to see it modified.

Well, I'm no fan of women's atheletics, frankly not even women go to see "Women's Basketball" because they play like girls and they suck.

Time after time it's been shown that men's atheletics are being cut to keep some artificial "parity" (QUOTA!!!!) because women hold no interest in turning out en masse for organized, competitive, team sports.

It's not about giving women choices, it's about taking them away for men, and it's pure, unadulterated horseshit.

Title IX should be repealed. Want to play? Get an interest. Get good. Generate some interest in people who want to come see you play.

In a word, ladies, open your own fucking door.

The problem with Title IX is the proportionality rule, ie., compliance requires the proportion of female athletic participation to mirror female student enrollment. There's nothing wrong with Title IX's goal of ensuring equal opportunity. Femininists and their friends in the federal government have turned this well-intentioned legislation into a quota mandate.

The honest politically incorrect truth is that women's sports suck and the better the bodies and the smaller the outfits...the greater the viewership. Gymnastics-->Tennis-->Track&Field-->Soccer-->Basketbal l-->Golf.

There is no practical solution to this ridiculous mess as long as public funds are being used to support these schools. Ideally, people should have some say in what happens with their money, but that only happens in free capitalistic constitutional democracies like the former United States.

That being said, everyone knows that the level of interest in sports is smaller among women than it is among men and likely always will be. I saw an article recently saying that even women don't watch women's sports. They by far prefer to watch men's.
Regardless, like Affirmative Action, until reality and common sense prevail, this whole topic is pointless.

What and put all those poor lawyers out of a job????

Think about this.

I believe this is both a men and women's movement.

This was a repeat... the second time they ran this segment that I've seen.

I was very glad to see that they chose to run this particular segment again among all the numerous others they had to choose from.

Hooraaaay for 60 Minutes!
