Spouse assault policy changes
posted by Adam on Saturday May 03, @11:53AM
from the News dept.
News Garth writes "In British Columbia, Canada, the policy is changing so that there will no longer be mandatory charges laid in every case of alleged spousal abuse. Hopefully this will result in some common sense being used when dealing with these cases, rather than an automatic chasing down of the alleged perpetrator with pitchforks."

This is great news, if it is followed through on.
Now if we can just get the same thing done in the U.S. and other countries that have such anti-man laws and regulations.

... this would be great.

I was victimized by a lying ex who used the ‘system’ that enables women to ruin men's lives on mere allegation.

Marxism, thought crimes, feminism, gender profiling, fascism, victim advocacy, the DV industry, the removal of a man from all that he owns and his temporary incarceration (which included strip seach and delousing) - are all in common... Do you understand why?

If you had had your "lying ex" problem under this new Canadian policy, I'd bet nothing would have been different.

It seems to me that this new policy is being instituted to find a way of fixing the terrible man when the woman won't testify. If your ex was willing to testify to attain revenge against you or get a particular advantage in your divorce, I'd bet the Canadian government would still have railroaded you based on your ex's word.

Ditto Ditto. I was wondering if maybe they are changing the policy because too many women were being charged. Knowing the Canadian system as being feminist drenched there must be an angle in there somewhere that protects women and blames men.

And thats the truth behind the whole thing. There was news on this in the past and BC just can't afford the court battles like Ontario. Nor can they afford the prisons.

BC is also the only province to question Bill C 117.

Its probably all that mary-jane in BC that has everyone so laid back. :)

It was about a year ago that I read that Ireland was going to start viewing Domestic Violence as a two way street.

I would be very interested to see what has come of it.

I don't see much change

There's nothing here that takes any of the blame off the men. No acknowledgement of the possibility of false charges and nothing mentioned of the possibility that the woman might be the perpetrator.

All it's saying is that if the woman won't cooperate and testify, the man must go to counseling. And if he doesn't, then criminal charges will be filed anyway.

The way I read it, it's just an end run around the obstacle of a woman refusing to testify. Here in the U.S., they've already overcome that minor problem by pressing charges no matter what the woman does or says and just assuming guilt.

Just wait awhile. Canada will come around to the U.S. way of thinking as soon as they decide this tactic isn't working.

Those Draconian laws you speak of are standard issue in Ontario's Zero Tolerance stance.

Though my discussions with criminal lawyer's is that judge's now have to be careful where to tread as cases have been appealed on the DV assumption that only men abuse.

This is not in the media as much, but lawyer's are beginning to wake up to the crap and fast. Unfortunatly it is the people that make the law in Canada. So a Manufactured Reality and a Stacked Supreme Court can violate any Individual's rights day or night with impunity.

Domestic Violence is now being considered the political crime and Canada holds innocents as Political Prisoners. This is a quote from a high ranking officer in a city detachment.

People are waking up, unfortunately not fast enough for thousands to have suffered severly.

Ironically, if feminists were 'liberals' we would not have this problem, but in fact they are 'totaltarian' so it exists.
