Let's turn the volume up on this one. How can any site, especially a site that depends on ad revenue, not take a little time to look into itself? We're not asking for some sort of freedom of speech breach here...we're asking for a little compassion and understanding on the part of a ‘public’ company. A company founded by ‘men’, run by ‘men’, and now middle managed to death by ‘women’!
Don’t drop the ball on this one. Let’s practice what we preach by taking the time to attack, just as good activists should!

MSN is notorious for its anti-male editorial policies as well as its greeting cards. On any given day on MSN.com you will see several "news" articles bashing men.

Yes, MSN is absolutely anti-male, and isn't this amazing given that Microsoft was absolutely, positively founded, funded, and grown by mostly smart guys.
Sad state of affairs that the feminists are trying to drive a wedge between the sexes, all the while utilizing the brilliance and ingenuity of men.
Hypocrisy at its very best/worst, and the very definition of disgusting.
Keep up the emails, though. We'll reach them, and reverse their course.

These smart guys are rich because people buy what they sell... if they weren't getting "eyeballs" to their site by having this, they wouldn't be putting it there.
I'm afraid you are missing the forest for the trees.. as long as this is considered ok, as long is there is no PC stigma against insulting men - in fact PC encouragement to bring the patriarchy down a notch, all types of male bashing will flourish... having a common enemy is a great unifier! Men are just too clueless to organize and prevent this... that is the male achilles heal...we are expected to sacrafice everything, and we usually do meet that expectation.
Fighting MSN is just treating a symptom. men need to organize and hit the root causes that creates this envirnoment.. but do it in a "smart" way. Not in a way that will allow some men to defect to the other side for personal gain (female approval), and will not make them appear to be oppressive patriarchs... it is not easy, requires intelligence, patience, and most of cooperative organization... taking a lesson from the feminists who, by nature, are great at skewing reality in order to elicit sympathy, victimhood, and most of all "sisterhood"...

Every movement starts by attacking bits and pieces, grabbing hold of what is available and chipping away, and if you think that getting a site like msn/egreetings to admit that some of their content is indeed misandrist doesn't help the cause, then you don't understand the exceptionally effective tactic of media awareness.
If you don't want to send a note in response to this, then don't. But if you choose to sit on the sidelines during this important action and just whine about people not doing what 'you' think they should be doing, then you're just a problem slowing down the solution. Hey, at least we’re doing something. What have you done?
And is far as what the site does and how it makes money, you make the assumption that the business model is effective in this way, yet didn’t take the time to reflect on what it ‘could be’ if adjusted accordingly. By the way, MSN doesn’t make money yet. Current financial reports list as follows: MSN lost $97 million on $531 million in revenue.
Now, it doesn’t take a genius to determine that effectively alienating a large portion of your target audience is not a good thing. Proving to MSN that they are indeed alienating men may not be truly easy, but it can be done.
Take the time to read some of the posts on this site and you’ll find ample evidence that the people here not only take all of this very seriously, but that we damn well understand what’s at stake, forest and all. Oh, you need to be told? Well then, let me educate you:

About 20 years ago, a small group of shipyard workers in Poland started chipping away at the Soviet Empire; within 5 years, the empire collapsed. So it will be for the Feminist empire and it may take a lot less effort than most people think.

Absolutely!!!!
Thank you for speaking out, Frank. Yes, the more people chipping the more actionable end results we'll achieve.

Oh dear me. What on Earth are you talking about? This is so terribly vague. I'm tempted to ask how you distinguish between root causes and symptoms (I'm skeptical that this could be made precise), but the time could be better spent going after "symptoms" such as MSN's male bashing greeting cards.

It would be nice if we could find a single focal point that we could attack to address the problem... but we're dealing with a monster that has it's tentacles into all aspects of our lives. IMO at this point the only viable approach is to continue to fight small battles and try to raise awareness that this is a real problem in this society.
Once more men start to realize that the wool has been pulled over their eyes for so long they don't feel the itch anymore... thats when things will start to change and the big battles we be fightable.

Perhaps an alternate approach might be to buy ONE share of Microsoft stock and contact them through their shareholder relations POC. Another thought: go to a shareholders meeting and propose a change to their charter that mandates gender balance.

Yes! Offering alternative approaches is always a good thing. Thank you so much for speaking up!
However, please do take the time to send them a 'personalized' note about this card (www.msnhatesmen.com - suffocation) that has caused so much stir. It doesn't hurt, as long as we speak with one voice.

Interesting idea. A lot of people actually own shares of Microsoft stock through mutual funds (a fund I invest in regularly buys Microsoft). I wonder if this approach would work for mutual fund stock owners?

What you might do in that case is call the fund manager. They or their immediate staff are generally available. Question why the fund invests in suc ha bigoted company. Of course, you'll get the usual answer about it being "purely a business decision," but you might also advise them that this will effect your future investment decisions.
It might be good if one fund manager heard from more than one voice. Anyone in any Fidelity or Vanguard funds?

"Hello Mitchell,
Thank you for contacting Egreetings.com Customer Service.
We have contacted our content department and let them know of your
complaint. We have filed a report, letting them know of your
organization and telling them that there have been some problems with
this specific card (you're not the only one). On our end, there's not
much more we CAN do.
Now, to answer your questions:
"What harm is there in removing the offending card(s)?"
"What positive financial impact exists from alienating so much of a
potential target audience?"
Removing content that we have paid artists and content writers to do
would increase our costs, as we would have to replace said card. Our
users may enjoy that card as a piece of humorous material and would
therefore generate negative comments from the removal of said card.
"Given the state of Microsoft and its constant, negative flux in
the legal arena, could this be another potential liability?"
I'm not sure how Microsoft is tied into our company in this matter, much
less this specific card.
"What can we do, as a company, to promote ourselves as the portal of
choice?"
We ask ourselves this question everyday - we promote fair prices,
excellent customer service, and good sales techniques to maximize
profits and to keep the majority of our customers happy. Truth be told,
more people enjoy this card for it's satirical humor (that they take
with a grain of salt) than people who actually dislike it, based on user
feedback. Just something to think about.
I hope these answers to your questions satisfy you. Thanks for your
continued repsonses.
Thank you,
Kyle

This is their idea of an appropriate response? Now that's funny!

Ask them to produce the same card with the genders reversed and let's see how "satirically humorous" they think it is.

Whoever wrote the reply needs to get out a dictionary and look up the word "satire"; if this is satirical, what is it satrizing?

Very true. Whatever this person may find funny about this type of situation certainly doesn't know anything about real world violence.

This letter from "Kyle" is disrespectful and sneering. However, I think it is a positive development. Gandhi said " first they ignore us, then they laugh at us, then we win ". They've stopped ignoring us and have started laughing at us. Great! We're halfway to winning!
