Thompson and Sacks Fire Back at N.O.W.

from the news dept.
News Dianna Thompson of the American Coalition for Fathers and Children derided the National Organization for Women's new Family Court Report 2002 in the Los Angeles Times today (free reg. required), noting that the report was a "self-selecting survey among NOW constituents" and not objective research. Thompson also noted that US census data showed that women are granted custody 80% of the time and that "fathers have very small chances of getting even dual custody." Also, men's issues columnist Glenn Sacks blasted NOW. on KTRS AM 550 in St. Louis today, advising listeners that NOW's recently released report is a fraud designed to create the false impression that family courts are biased against women.

I'm glad Glenn Sacks and Dianna Thompson responded promptly to NOW's obnoxious propaganda. Thank you Glenn and Dianna!

Yes, and because the NOW's propoganda machine is so well oiled and permanently set on "repeat until end of time", I hope it is attacked at LEAST as often as it is brought up by the NOWchikks.

NOW's conclusions were announced at a news conference after attorneys for the organization filed a legal brief in a state appellate court in Los Angeles supporting a mother who says that she was denied a fair trial when a judge granted her ex-husband full custody of their daughter, who is 15.

This strategy is just part of their ongoing agenda to wage war against the family and fathers. There is no question but that the study was contrived and manipulated to get the results the desired in the conclusion. NOW is just becoming more bigoted and sophisticated in their tactics.

So the admitted to using a SLOP method. At least they're in the business of admitting it these days. No one takes NOW very seriously anymore, precisely because of things like this. While they are designing SLOPs and holding them up as "studies," the men's movement is relying on census stats. If this trend continues, NOW is in for even more difficult times.
