MANN Upgrade This Weekend

	The Men's Activism News Network will be unavailable this weekend due to a major server software upgrade. The outage will begin early Saturday morning and the site should be back up by Sunday evening. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we intend to offer some cool new features with the upgrade, including an apache file compression module that should increase the download speed of MANN for most users, regardless of your internet connection speed.

I'd love to switch over to PHP-Nuke, but: 1 - Our database is huge now (almost 2k entries for stories, 700+ user accounts) and there is no clean way to switch the Slash database to the PHP-Nuke format. 2 - PHP-Nuke is *incredibly* insecure. Almost every couple of weeks I hear about a new exploit that can be used against Nuke sites. So, unfortunately, PHP-Nuke is not an option for us now. But it could become one in the future, if these two issues could be taken care of. Scott

I'm hoping MANN will be back up by then, but it might not. Note that the chat is being held on the iFeminists.com chat room, not in the MANN one, so it can still happen if this site isn't up. Also, it's Nightmist and Wendy that will be the main guests of the chat. I'll make it if I can, but they're the ones with experience in writing editorials and getting published. Scott
