Men's Groups Challenge DV Reference Book

Domestic Violence Ragtime also sent in this article earlier this month about how men's groups in the Toronto area are challenging a "standard reference book" used by domestic violence advocates which is full of the typical feminist myths regarding DV. The challenge has caused quite a stir, and it will be interesting to see what it results in.

This post is a request for information.

I recently attended a volunteer training class for a non-profit organization that claims to work to prevent child abuse. The organization is the Georgia Council on Child Abuse in Atlanta. A portion of the training class was a hate attack on men. In addition to the usual hate rhetoric about 95% of all violence being done by men, women only wound men in self defense, etc., they also recited a long list of horrible acts as if they are typical of all males. It was straight hate talk.

In addition, they described lying to male callers on their phone line to try to entrap them, described using the phone line to encourage hatred towards males, and described using the phone line to encourage punishment of male children just for being male.

It seems to me that there are three possible criminal acts:
- Fraud--claiming to be a child abuse prevention organization while encouraging the abuse of male children.
- Fraud--claiming to be an anti-domestic violence organization while encouraging hatred between the sexes.
- Using public money to promote hate talk.

From reading this site, it sounds like the last point is a federal crime. The Tennessee YMCA issue is an example.

My questions are...
...Does anyone know of a reference regarding the public money/hate talk issue?
...Does anyone know if the other two issues would be fraud under usual state laws?
...Has anyone ever filed complaints with state or federal attorneys over similar issues?
...Has anyone ever notified donors to a non-profit that their money is supporting bigotry and abuse of male children?

Any useful feedback will be appreciated.

Fathers Are Capable Too needs your financial support.

We are a not-for-profit organization that doesn't receive any government funding. Our members work extremely hard. We are all volunteers. We have a lot of expenses for an office, telephone, brief preparation, literature, meeting rooms, travel expenses, etc.

We Urgently Need Your Financial Assistance . We need a photocopier, paper, old computers etc.

Remember: a voting membership is only $40, and a non-voting membership is only $10. All donations are needed

F.A.C.T. has played an important part in making changes in Canada. We have traveled to our nation's capital to present briefs. We have also traveled to Parliament Hill to demonstrate. We have made the national news on 3 networks many times. Our president has appeared on numerous TV shows including the Women's Television Network, CFRB Radio, about 10 or 12 other Radio shows, Canadian Broadcasting Network's PrimeTime, CBC News, CFTO, CTV, CityTV, Rogers Cable 10 and more.

Our demonstrations have made the front page. We have had news coverage and been quoted or referred to in countless newspaper articles including MacLean's (Canada's national magazine), The Globe and Mail, The National Post, The Toronto Sun, The Toronto Star (Canada's largest newspaper), Mississauga News, Brampton Guardian, Ottawa Citizen and probably another 50 newspapers.

We need the financial support of all men, women and children that want to have fathers for our children.
