Folks,
Regarding the subject entry from nagzi, I emailed Dirk just to see how amenable he is to participating in a men’s movement. This is our exchange:

Mr. Benedict,
I read of your stifled attempts to talk publicly about prostate cancer on a website "www.mensactivism.org." There are many of us who frequent that website who would like very much to hear more. You may publish there using s pseudonym if you are concerned about career implications. However, I would encourage you to be more public about this kind of issue.
There is a growing men's movement in this country, though it doesn't [get] much press in the print or broadcast media. It truly is alive and well and living on the Internet. If you're so inclined, we would be very pleased if you would join us. We certainly do need the support of public figures like yourself. British actor Steven Berkoff has indicated a level of support. I hope others will soon.
OBTW, I enjoyed your work on Battlestar Galactica and the A-Team.

Subject: Re: Prostate Cancer
Dear Frank,
Thank you for your interest.
Yes I have been speaking for 20 years about prostate health. I have written a book on my long journey from floundering in the world of the unwell to living a life of health. "Confessions of a Kamikaze Cowboy." Forgive me if you know about the book, I couldn't tell from your letter. The book has been tremendously helpful to the sick and dying of all forms of degenerative illnesses. I don't have the time for writing as I am trying to finish a second, updated, book on connection between diet and health. Most men don't want to hear my message. It requires complete self reliance. It is available in stores or Amazon.com or on my website www.kamikazecowboy.com, where I charge more as I personalize it to the person who orders. My career, by the way, was very much "hurt" by my outspoken demeanor during TV appearances etc. on the root causes of America's sickness. Which has only become worse in past decade, but finally, gradually, people are waking up. They have no choice. The more men die from prostate cancer, the more they are open to my message of diet and lifestyle. I am to cancer what AA is to alcoholism and as you may no all alcoholics come to AA after trying EVERYTHING else.
Be Well,
Dirk Benedict
