New Television Show Offers View Of Women Through Men's Eyes

The Media This story on Excite News reports on a new television show airing on NBC daytime this season (starting Sept. 10). Titled "The Other Half," it's yet another talk show geared toward a female audience, but with men discussing the issues from their perspectives rather than women. The producers describe it as "The View," except with men. Unfortunately, the show's description reads like yet another way for women to bash men on television, but make it appear OK because it's men who are doing the bashing. I'll be interested to see how it works out, though. Anyone home during the daytime on this site? Check out this show and report to us on it.

Near as I can tell, it's right after the Today show. Their website is:
http://www.theotherhalf.tv/main.html

This is a good chance to submit story ideas--they have a section for that on the website!

Thanks, Trudy and Nagzi. I'm interested to find out what it's like, but my VCR is on the fritz and I have no TiVO. :)

Do we really need opinions fron the elite hollywood types? You couldn't get any further removed from reality than these folks.

Not to mention that they have the highest failure rate in marriage and relationships as a whole.

It could be an interesting show, but I wouldn't look to it for any valuable advice or information, just entertainment.

I've listened to Danny B.'s radio program and it was ok though a bit on the sleazy side. If they make the T.V. program that sleazy, it will likely do ok. T.V. audiences tend to be less intelligent and more sleazy than radio listeners.

For one thing, the show will be geared towards a female audience - and if it's daytime, then the audience would be predominantly female anyway. Do you really think these guys (or the advertisers) will have the cajones to actually swing the hammer down upon the Berlin wall of female chauvanism which their projected viewership has become accustomed and addicted to, thanks to radically female-skewed programs like Oprah and the original View?

No. The producers will expect that women will watch this show to hear the same feminist violins being played, but this time with the added satisfaction of seeing the men repent. And so that's what the male hosts will do.

I'm not going near it.
If we don't like it...

I think we ought to assess the show on its merits, then be prepared to uniformly trash it if we don't like it. Assuming we don't (given Dan and Hawth's prognostications, which I think are right on), we should be prepared to write to the producers AND the sponsors and make our sentiments known in unambiguous terms. To the producers: "I will set my v-chip to block your program regardless of whether or not I am home," and to the sponsors: "I will see to it that your products never cross the threshold of my home as long as you sponsor this program." Finally, we would be well-served to provide them with ample reading material directed at their website or email address.

If someone would be so kind as to give those of us unable to watch an assessment and a list of sponsors, I'm sure many of us would make good use of them.
