Men's Health You know that William Pollack theory that boys develop emotional deficiencies due to socialization which forces them to be emotionally detached? It's bunk, according to this article on Excite News. Dr. Mark S. Kiselica, associate professor and chair of the department of counselor education at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, says If that's the norm, then insecure attachments should be the norms for boys and men--men should long for intimate relationships, yet recoil from them. There's no empirical research to support those claims.

I'm always happy (and relieved) to read reports like this. Thanks, Nightmist, for submitting it. Every so often, I think that the combatants on both sides of the gender war need to be firmly reminded of how the majority of males - young and old - are doing a fine job at being human.

It should remind the bigots that their case for men and boys being such a terminally flawed species is not so strong, and remind men ourselves as well as our supporters that the outlook is not so bleak.
