Help a Student Speak Out About Misinformation
posted by Scott on Thursday August 16, @05:50PM
from the announcement dept.
Announcements Neuticle writes "I go back to college in a couple of weeks, and I remember that at the annual activities fair there has always been a "feminist" booth. Now this booth was distributing a ton of the usual "Ms"-information about rape, discrimination and wage gap. This year, I want to put up my own booth, with statistics and facts that present a different story, information that shows why the other statistics are flawed, as well as examples of the discrimination against men (No reproductive choice, draft etc.) Since I attend a very academically rigorous (and PC) institution, I know that I will need to document good sources that I can cite to defend against the expected backlash. I have some info, but it has been scattered, and this is a big project: I'm asking for help researching this. I plan on publishing the finished compilation on my web site unless someone already has (which would be great)." Please post any ideas you have in the comments section of this article - I hope Neuticle will also post his e-mail address there too!

Do you need Statistics? if so, just ask and I'll post some links here.

Wow. This is stellar activism. I hope Neuticle knows what he's in for, but I honestly applaud this effort. Colleges are fertile ground. The whole movement should be this aggressive because the men that he reaches will stick with the movement for a long time.

Indeed. Feminism and civil rights movements would not have advanced as far as they did in the 60s and 70s without the advocacy of college students on campus. Go for it, Neuticle. I hope you're able to generate some much-needed advocacy among young college males (and females).

Have you approached Marc Angelucci and Trudy Schuett about getting some domestic violence figures? I think either of them would be good sources, and they both watch this site.

Likewise, search this Web site's archives for some of the more compelling statistics-based stories, especially those in which women who call themselves feminists advocate for men's rights. It would be good if you could show your audience that it's not just "pissed off men" who are fighting for the various men's movement causes.

Good luck, man. Please keep us posted on how it goes.

I didn't find (possibly due to bad vision) an email address for Neuticle and I wanted to pass along this URL:

There's lots of good data plus a link to a LARGE bibliography on domestic violence statistics.

Great idea! The scare tactics and "Msinformation" that feminists use to recruit young women into the feminist cult during the first year of college needs to be countered with a clear and well supported opposition. I applaud your efforts. If more men were willing to do this - the insanity would have stopped a long time ago, and perhaps a true and non-sexist form of feminism would have resulted....

You could document articles that have been submitted here on this site. Many of the articles have references, you could follow the provided links for more information. Check the links page out, as it is possible to find more source material here. I spent less than five minutes - starting from this webpage- and this is what I found:

Seventeen critiques of feminism, including such authors as Midge Decter, Steven Goldberg, George Gilder. Much of the writing aims at debunking feminist claims about domestic violence, childcare, women in combat, divorce and fatherhood. Good notes and bibliography. Very useful as a reference. Neuticle, I just remembered that the Independent Women's Forum is actively campaigning on college campuses to refute the "top ten feminist myths" as other posters have noted here. You should get in touch with someone from IWF and I bet they'd have plenty of materials to give you, and may have some other resources you'd find useful.
