Readers Speak Out About Men Avoiding Marriage
posted by Scott on Thursday July 26, @03:38PM

News There were a couple of great letters in the Christian Science Monitor replying to a recent article about how men are avoiding marriage because of the ways it is unfair to them. You may recognize the names as Mensactivism.org readers and commentors. Great work, Alan and Neil! This is a great example of reader activism.

Great job guys. I think both of you well-represented the reasons many men are staying away from marriage these days. You certainly represented my personal feelings about it. Alan, I thought your response to the quote by whoever-the-feminist-was was particularly appropriate and succinct.

Nice to see the CSM printing letters like that.

Whenever I read something like this I am inspired to quote a
little Juvenal:

"Taking a wife? You used to sane enough - what Fury's
got into you, what snake has stung you up? Why endure
such bitch-tyranny when rope's available by the fathom,
when all those dizzying top-floor windows are open for
you, when there are bridges handy to jump from?"
(Satire VI)

The one by the Englishman I really enjoyed .. speaking
of the English and personal relations, if any of you have
time for reading you might try the following:
