Scientists Identify New Male Infertility Syndrome

Men's Health This article on Excite News claims that male sperm counts have been on a steady decline for several decades, and that both genetics and environmental factors could be contributing to a rising number of male infertility problems and testicular cancer. The scientists believe the problems are beginning in the womb, and that adverse environmental factors such as hormone disrupters, probably acting on a genetic susceptibility, could be to blame. "Hormone dirupters" may be found in--among other things--paint, pesticides, and detergents.

For those of us who are interested in how an egg + sperm becomes a man, and all things biologically man-related, there's an interesting Web site produced by The Andrology Society. Some info is members only, but there's a lot of good info for the general public as well: www.andrologysociety.com
