I'm not sure this is much different than the U.S., other than being more honest. Like the Mau women, U.S. women exercise more sexual choices than men. And, like the Mau men (or at least as the Mau once were), U.S. men are expected to be the warriors. (It is interesting how that issue only got one line of mention.) And, as long as the Mau men have a choice in whether to engage in the sex they're chosen for, maybe their culture is more desireable for men than our own. Other than in war (if still applicable), their men don't have to play the payor/pursuer/performer role. More power to them.
