Martin Luther King Remembered

Announcements I was looking around on the web for something to post here about Martin Luther King, Jr, but found a short e-mail by Ed Bartlett to be very appropriate. It's a quote from Dr. King, and reads, "If a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live." - MLK Speech in Detroit, June 23, 1963. I believe the men's movement as a movement can learn a lot from the civil rights movement. Here is a web site at Stanford devoted to the original writings of Dr. King.

Call me a strange bird, but every time I read one of these—what are essentially opinion pieces—I read the first paragraph and then my eyes instantly flip up to the byline to see who wrote it. What I'm asking myself is, "Male or female?"

Now, lots of men write pieces that snicker at other men (I think they're trying to show their female masters what good little boys they are); these guys drive me crazy because I know that somewhere inside they must have some inkling that it's not "a man's world." However, in this case the author is "Julia McNamee Neenan." Does it surprise me that a "Julia" would write a condescending article poo-pooing males and their problems? Not at all. She's trying to make sure that the only people with real problems worthy of concern are her people.

I get the feeling that BusterB meant to post this to the previous story on men's health issues. Is that right, BusterB?
