The Roles Of White Women In Slave Ownership

Book Reviews Rand writes "Here's a review of a book that shatters the myths and feminist propaganda that women did not play a role in slave ownership or were more compassionate to their slaves. Click here to read the review." Honest research into this part of history will eventually force feminists to admit that women have been just as tyrannical and unjust as men through the times.

This is a testament to the power and success of feminism: the fact that people still find the notion of "evil women" shocking. How did feminists ever manage to so thoroughly convince so many people that women have no dark side?

The idea that white women could own slaves and that they were just as bad, or worse than their male counterparts does not shock me. That it shocks other people does shock me.

Why is it so difficult to believe in bad women when it is so easy to believe in bad men?

I believe this quote from Warren Farrell should help, my comments in brackets:

"When you create an angel (WOMEN) you usually create a devil (MEN) as well."

I think that is what he meant.

The female = angelic stuff dates from the Industrial Revolution. Some have suggested societies always dally with the concept of an idealised form of morality that is impractical. With the industrial revolution middle class women in the Victorian period became unemployed. Their previous employment of light industry (textiles) was replaced with factories. There was enough wealth to support a semi-parasitic class of "too moral for work" women.

Feminism is born from this group of women. The women were busy covering up piano legs and becoming offended at words like "leg" instead of "limb". Meanwhile someone still had to earn the money. Its obvious the sensibilities Vicotrian middle class women had could not be held by anyone in the real world so men were "less moral" than the women they supported.

Apparently some of these women were too bored for words and feminism was born. Most women were very happy with the situation of course, but by this time men were used to doing what women asked despite the request being ludicrous, as feminism was generally seen to be.

I'm not sure quite how it all became so hatefull. I think women have a tendency towards tribalism which men don't have as a sex. As a nation? Yes. As a race? Maybe, but not as a sex. Perhaps it was all just "penis envy" by a bunch of highly talented women who thought life was being hard on them when they saw the grass was so much greener on the other side of the fence. Of course today women know it wasn't greener......

So anyway. Blame the industrial revolution :-)
