Bill 117 To Destroy Men With One Phone Call

Domestic Violence Rand submitted this link to an Ottawa Citizen story. It's about a new domestic violence bill that completely blew my mind. Under the new law, a woman accusing a man of violence (in marriage or dating relationships) will automatically be transferred ownership of all of the man's property, a restraining order will be enacted, and all this can be done without informing the man first. You've got to read it to believe it.

If Bill 117 becomes law, men will flee Ottawa (Score:1)

I was considering moving from the United States
to Canada. Not any more.

The Family Courts have seen to ot that fatherhood is virtually unconstitutional in the United States. If Bill 117 becomes law and the U.S follows suit, being male will be unconstitutional in the United States.

I'm posting this for Claude, who's a Canadian (though not from Ottowa):

Sir,

I read your article on Bill 117. I am from Saint-Hubert, near Montreal. I was a feminist for a long time and still am but since fathering I began to reflect and inform myself on the male condition. Men have problems too. They are victims of violence too! I feel compassion for them too. I think this bill is going too far. I remember reading, but I did not take the reference, that women are victim of violence more by other women than by men.

Anyways, I don't know to who to write to say that men are victim of violence too. I have at least ten good texts.

Thank you,

Claude Saint-Jarre

Claude should write to Senator Anne Cools. Senator Cools is one of the few of our elected representatives in Canada that gives a damn about fathers. Being a senator, she doesn't have to answer to the electorate, who would quickly vote out anyone who had a word to say against mothers. Unfortunately, being a senator also means that she doesn't have much influence over what gets passed into law.

If there is any solace to be found in this horrible legislation, it can only be the irony that this is going on at the same time and in the same courts as the storm over the Indian residential schools that brutalized so many Canadian Native children fifty years ago. Don't see the connection? I do. Each generation of zealots thinks that they have the answer. Someone gives them some power, and they go rank, pushing their cause to the limits. It takes the next generation—or a couple of generations later— to look back in horror at the resulting carnage and perhaps bring the zealots to some kind of justice.

The problem is that by the time the great machine of justice (or what passes for "justice" in an imperfect human society) makes its slow, grinding turn to shine a light on the man-hating feminist shock troops and the damage they've done, a lot of men will have gone down for the last time. I only hope that I live a long enough life to see it.
