Australian Army reduces physical qualifications significantly to recruit women

Article here. Excerpt:

'Women have to finish just four push-ups in order to pass the Australian Army fitness test, as part of an effort to double the number of female troops.

The initial test consists of just four push-ups and 20 sit-ups, The Daily Telegraph reported.

If women pass the test they are sent off on a seven-week pre-conditioning course, where they prepare for the formal Army recruit course and more rigorous tests.

After the seven weeks of training they need to complete eight push-ups and 45 sit-ups in order to start proper training.

The fitness tests were created with increased female membership in mind, after it was revealed the Australian Army wanted to double its female intake.
...
As part of the push for more female recruits, women needed to promise two years while men needed to give at least six years' service once they signed up in the infantry or artillery.'

... I just dropped to give the Corps theirs and I'll be damned if I did not struggle and collapse after two. I mean, really, FOUR push-ups is some SERIOUS DAMNED PT, you know what I mean?? I nearly died after two. For real. Word. No shit. *SMH*.

If you don't laugh you'll cry. Good thing Australia isn't facing the same kind of invasion from Japan they did during WWII. Just sayin'.

P.S. I also do have to confess these two are unbearably cute standing there with their blankies on them. Cute as kittens.

What makes this even richer is that apparently Australia has decided to stop recruiting men in their army until their is a 50/50 gender ratio. I wish I was joking, but it's true:

Combining this terrible idea with ridiculously low physical standards for female recruits will likely lead to Australia being invaded and conquered within the next 5 years. I'm not joking.

Here's some perspective for you. I'm by no means a couch potato. I exercise, and do 108 rotational pushups every day. These are even harder to do than regular pushups, and were invented by a marine. Despite my frequent and arduous physical activity, I highly doubt that even I would make the cut for the army as a male. However, Australia is fine with having cadets that aren't even able to do 4% of my daily exercise regimen--if they happen to have two of the same sex chromosomes that is.

Australia really is the mother ship of gynocentrism--to the point that it is extremely likely that political correctness is about to destroy their society.

As is so often the case with these articles they barely do any investigating to give a full story.

For example, the 4 push ups just gets them into a pre-conditioning course after which they need to be able to do 8. What are the men expected to do after the course, or do they not take the course?

If they do get into the formal Army recruit course and 'more rigorous testing' is THAT testing also scaled down or do the same standards apply at that point?

I don't have a major issue with a pre-boot-camp-boot-camp. I can see room for ANY gender in a situation where they can't meet the standards but are given 7 weeks to prove they're committed to bringing themselves up to those standards. That seems like a good idea, for everyone, in a world where fitness is falling and fewer people might qualify out of the gate.

The complete horseshit part of it is only requiring 2 years instead of 6 for men. That's indefensible.
