NY Times: The Men Who Never Have to Grow Up

Article here. OP submitted comments. I placed them as the first comment for this item. Excerpt:

'Women and nonwhite men don’t have it quite as easy.

If boys will be boys, then girls must be grown-ups, whose job it is to protect men from their worst impulses. Witness every administrative body, from middle school to Congress, that has decided that it’s easier and more culturally acceptable to police girls’ and women’s clothing than it is boys’ behavior.

Should one of these fine young fellows slip — inflamed, perhaps, by one bare shoulder too many — there’s probably a woman to blame, and it’s his punishment, not his crime, that becomes the tragedy.'

"A woman named Jennifer Weiner wrote an article for the New York Times about the "men who never have to grow up". I've always been a little curious about the liberal definition of maturity, and how they seem to see it lacking in men, but not women. I mean, how is making false allegations or a teacher having "an affair" with an underage student "mature" behavior for women?"

But it's less about white maleness and more about class. Class is the single greatest determinant of how ppl's indiscretions and faux pas are treated. Indeed, look at what nonwhites and women can get away with by appealing to their indellible characteristics. No one's said anything about these guys' skin color or gender, except the article author. Predictably, NYT readers jumped in to shout hear, hear. But how many ppl suddenly get myopic when skin color and in particular gender is changed? Suddenly, any criticism is *because* of these characteristics.

. . . laments about men and boys escaping accountability for their unjust actions, yet she seems to have a very selective memory. After all, there are countless examples of women escaping punishment for their unjust actions. Just recently a woman was sentenced to 4 years in prison for causing the death of her fiance. She even admitted to pulling the plug out of his kayak and being joyful as a result of his death. Feminists and women really don't want to complain about accountability of men vis-a-vis women. It's not a game they're going to win, as anyone with eyes in their head can see that men are judged far more harshly for their actions than women.

"...anyone with eyes in their head can see that men are judged far more harshly for their actions than women."

True. But when wearing Nymphotropism Visors, suddenly, the evil that women do either ain't so bad or it's entirely justified, going from evil to good, or at least forgivable. Never underestimate the power of nymphotropism. As a force of cognitive dissonance, it has no match.
