Feminism takes a hit from Miss USA

Article here. Excerpt:

'SCIENTIST and newly crowned Miss USA Kara McCullough has joined the growing list of women who refuse to identify as a feminist. McCullough isn’t your typical beauty queen; she’s black, bold and brilliant but don’t dare call her the F word.

Thanks to the unhinged antics of the loudest and proudest members of the movement, feminism has become a dirty word.
...
Frankly, she is a little too good to be in a pageant. Instead of sticking to the safe, syrupy answers we’re accustomed to hearing from beauty queens, McCullough had the guts to respond honestly and state firm opinions, which have upset the usual suspects in the media. When asked about feminism and whether she considers herself a feminist, McCullough responded by saying that she preferred “equalism” to feminism. “I don’t want to call myself a feminist,” she said. “I try not to consider myself as this diehard, ‘I don’t care about men’ (type). Women, we are just as equal as men when it comes to opportunity in the workplace. First-hand, I’ve witnessed the impact women have in leadership in the medical sciences as well as in office environments.”
...
or the crime of not identifying as feminist, McCullough has been attacked by the sisterhood and “male feminists” who are among the nastiest creatures lurking on the worldwide web. Indeed, just about every piece of warped sexist abuse sent my way on social media is the work of a “man” who identifies as a feminist. It’s curious how progressives can be hypersensitive to gendered language and harassment of women but still engage in vile, misogynistic abuse of women who do not share their views.'

But feminists seem to reserve their harshest attacks for women who don't toe the feminist line. Just ask Cassie Jaye or any female politician who opposes feminism. Or McCullough.
