Millenials struggling, especially men

'It's a scenario that has become far too common, according to a new census report out Wednesday that reveals staggering statistics on millennials and their journey to independence.

For one, the report shows young men like Kaylor, who makes less than $22,000, have fallen by the wayside when it comes to income.

"In 1975, only 25 percent of men aged 25 to 34 had incomes of less than $30,000 per year. By 2016, that share rose to 41 percent of young men," according to the report.

"That is a product of a shrinking blue-collar economy," said Anthony Carnevale, director of the Center on Education and the Workforce, a non-profit institute at Georgetown University.'

Seriously. At least un- and under-employed women can always fall back on "casual prostitution", ie, turning tricks here and there to make ends meet. Women generally won't pay for sex but instead seek to be paid in some way, but men will and do. It comes in many forms, direct monetary transfers as a quid pro quo being the most overt. But it comes in several forms. Anyway, since the great majority of men are straight and won't be gay for the pay, and since the market of buyers is limited, guys have nothing to fall back on while at least women can turn to the world's oldest profession.

Still, with men in aggregate earning so much less than they used to, even that fallback is a bit sketchy. With the number of full- and part-time hookers going up and the number of men able to pay much for sex going down, Millenial women can't count on very high prices for their sexual services. Add this to the flood of junkie whores littering our cities' streets, it's hard out there for a hooker. Hard out there for the john, too, apparently.
