UK: False rape accusation saw Bideford man experience 16-month ‘living hell’

'A FATHER-OF-FIVE falsely accused of rape has described the 16-months leading up to the trial as “a living hell”.

Melvin Dalton, of Westcroft Court, Bideford, was arrested in May 2013 and charged with raping a woman – though the charge was later changed to sexual assault by penetration in December 2013.

The 69-year-old appeared at Exeter Crown Court last month, where the jury unanimously found him not guilty.

Melvin has spoken to the Journal about how this false accusation has changed his life.

Friend, 28-year-old Karlie Gleghorn, said: “He lost all confidence – he put his life on hold.”

“I have been afraid to leave the house – it ruined by life,” Melvin added.

He does see a brighter future though, but is still worried about the stigma of being accused of such a serious crime.

“I think it will always be in the back of my mind. I can’t even imagine starting a relationship, I am incredibly nervous to even speak to a woman I don’t know,” he added.'

... relationships with women, much less wanting now to interact with one for fear of another false accusation of some kind (could be anything; rape's just the extreme case. She need only say he said something *bad* to her, etc., and that's all it'd take for him to wind up in the clink again). Feminists rejoice!

Better for him, in a sense. Why at age 69 take unnecessary risks with life savings (what's left of his, anyway, since his lawyers must have done well), freedom, etc.? If she'd gotten away with it, he probably would've died in jail. Ain't nobody got time for that. :)

just exactly what does it cost any woman to ruin any man/boy's life she doesn't like, or harbors a grudge against, or needs to make her hubby/bf/gf jealous? women/girls have hundreds of reasons for making false accusations, on our dime.

punishment for false acusations? nothing. nada. zilch. I have on rare occasion heard of getting charged w/ making a false police report. $110 fine, maybe?

you ask me, I think false accusers need to be sure they don't pick a guy who will hold a grudge. if some guy eventually retaliates looking for some one-on-one justice, the msm will pick it up and run that feminist ball like a SEC running back in an open field.

this is a stacked deck, feminist style.
