Citigroup's womenandco.com

Anonymous User writes "Citigroup has a program open to women only called Women and Company. Members receive a wide range of benefeits from Citigroup associates such as Citibank, Smith Barney, and Travelers Insurance. Benefeits include a hotline for financial planning advice and discounts for childcare services for mom (sorry, dad). Surprisingly, members have access to lower interest rates for home mortgages, auto loans and student loans. The rationale for all of this is the 76.3 cents per every dollar a man earns argument."

'Grope' Gripe

I'm posting a link to this article, because I think it shows where we are headed in the near future or, perhaps, where we've already arrived.

Now that the courts as well as the general public are becoming aware of the fact that some women lie about being assaulted or otherwise victimized, I suspect we will soon see an increasing number of cases like this, where the woman claims the man abused her and the man claims the woman abused him and government entities find it's in their interest to side with the man.

It was so easy, when we all knew that women never lie about being assaulted (sarcasm off). I can't tell you how often I've been told, "No woman would ever lie about being assaulted by a man," though I haven't heard that one for a couple years.

Linda Mills on Domestic Violence

I've decided to list this link separately, rather than mentioning it under the Cathy Young article's post, so that the maximum number of people will see it. Professor Mills provides some valuable insights into the complex problem of domestic violence. One of them is how often shaming tactics are used against men who are victims of DV.

If I were investing in a social movement today, I wouldn't put my hard earned cash into shares of mainstream feminism.

A strong stand against the DV industry

CJ writes "Cathy Young has done it again. She has outlined in a prominent Boston Globe article how the domestic violence Industry is based on the false premise that violence happens as a result of “patriarchal norms” and not because of personal psychological reasons, and that the current "lock 'em up" dogma that plagues average non-violent men in our society is tragically flawed. Linda G. Mills (of New York University, a professor of law and social work and author of the new book) book "From Insult to Injury: Rethinking Our Responses to Intimate Abuse" addresses the flawed dogma of the DV industry. The current ideology that views all men as wolves and all women as lambs is too deeply entrenched in society needs to be heard by politicians, judges, prosecutors and many others. It took the "mainstream" feminists about 30 years to establish their monopoly on the public debate about domestic violence. Mills' book may be the first step in dismantling that monopoly. Lets show our support for the book and to the Boston Globe for publishing this brave article. Lets get behind this one!"

U.S. News: A "gender gap" in Cardiovascular Disease

mens_issues writes "U.S. News & World Report has a feature called "The End of Heart Disease" in its December 1 edition. This issue has a graphic on page 42 titled "SEX AND DEATH - a gender gap in cardiovascular disease." This graphic implies that women are at a disadvantage as they suffer more cardiovascular deaths than men. This is misleading as men (on average) die of their heart attacks several years before women. [Note: the online version didn’t have this graphic]."

Men's Movement: Legitimate Grievances?

In recent years men's and fathers' issues have exploded on the web, including on websites such as MensNewsDaily.com and Mensactivism.org. Are these and other prominent men's sites the beginnings of a coming civil rights movement? Or are they merely a forum for the grumbling and petty complaints of a privileged class?

Tom Sylvester of the Institute for American Values and MensNewsDaily columnist Bernard Chapin debated the virtues and vices of the men's movement on His Side with Glenn Sacks on Sunday, November 23. To listen to the show archive, go to http://hisside.com/11_23_03.htm>

Using hate speech to promote business

LeMorteMark writes "I found a link where a woman claims:
"Today, these fathers rights groups, many of which have posted on their website that they feel women are second class citizens and even should not have the power to vote".

I don't recall ever seeing a father's rights website that says women should not have the right to vote. As I read further, I realized that the true motivation for these sexist lies was the promotion of a "facial exercise" business.

I wonder how much sexism and bigotry this woman is willing to promote to sell her useless crap.

Here's the link so you know what I'm talking about:

False accuser to be charged

The Gonzo Kid writes "The Detroit Free Press reports that one Nicole Milburn is to be charged with a felony in connection to a September 17 incident. Apparently Ms. Milburn had consensual and protected sex with one of Scotty Anderson's teammates, stole $700 from Scotty, and was trying to inseminate herself with used condoms. According to Mike Dugan, the prosecutor, this was "apparently, either to hopefully cause herself to be pregnant and have a child support claim, or potentially, as it turned out, possibly to support a rape claim." Read the story here at the DFP, and marvel. Hopefully this will become a trend."

The Christian Comments were authored by me.

I'd just like to clear up for the record that the men who submitted the recent articles containing remarks about the "Christian Domestic Violence industry", (Paul and Ray), were not the authors of those remarks.

I added those comments to their submitted articles solely as an attempt to demonstrate a point through analogy and not as a serious attack on Christianity, (I am a Christian after all). I am dissappointed that those remarks were taken as a serious attack, in part because I believe some of the people who did so knew better and wanted to capitalize on the un-PC quality of those remarks when taken seriously. These are people I would have expected better from.

If anyone really was truly offended by what they felt was some kind of religious slur then I apologize and hope that I've cleared up any misunderstandings. - Hombre

CBC Article on the Gender Gap in Schools

Anonymous User writes "The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has an article on their website about the current gender gap for male youths in terms of reading. It states that the current gap for reading in favour of girls is twice as large as the (now closed) gap for maths and sciences that used to favour boys. It also states that contrary to popular belief boys are not "catching up" to girls as they get older in their reading skills."
