Men save '50% more' than women

Linucs writes "From here: "More people are saving regularly, but women are managing to save less than men, according to a report published today." - Guess why? - "Women's salaries are, on average, lower than men's so you would expect a lower amount of savings, both in total and regular monthly amounts. But they also save a lower percentage of income."

Surprise..."

Little League mother guilty of assault

CJ writes "A mother was ordered to watch a sportsmanship video and write an essay about it after she was found guilty yesterday of assaulting an 11-year-old boy who was cheering the opposing team at her son's game nearly two years ago. She was initially charged with kicking the boy in the crotch. Apparently women have behavioral issues at sporting events too. Hard for the gender feminists to say that this type of action is a patriarchal norm... Also, if a man (father) had done this - we all know that he would be sitting in jail right now, and his face would have been on the front page of the paper."

USAToday.com: Boys bad, girls good

Well it seems 16-YO boys are the main reason girls die in car accidents, or so you may gather from USA Today's March 1, 2005 cover story.

From the article:

To many who knew the victims, the crash seemed like a cruel act of fate, a freak tragedy beyond anyone's control. But it fit a common formula for teen deaths on the USA's roadways: Put a 16-year-old boy at the wheel of an SUV. Add two or three teens, including at least one other boy. Send them out at night. Finally, let them travel fast — and unbelted.

I guess girls never drive recklessly, do they? Not according to this publication from the Scottish government:

Although boys constitute the majority of road accident casualties at all ages, accident statistics show that the difference between boys and girls is narrowest during their early teenage years. This research did not find strong evidence to explain this phenomenon. There was little evidence to suggest that girls were any less likely to engage in 'common risk' behaviour but there was some evidence that they were slightly more careful when they did so.

UNICEF chief defends "feminism" in aiding children

bro writes "Here is the article.

Carol Bellamy comments: "Women are central to UNICEF's mission in that their well-being directly impacts families and children."

She also comments: "Since 1990, women and children constitute most of the deaths in war zones. Boys were brutalized and forced to become soldiers, while too many women and girls were too ashamed to complain," she said.

My only question is if women and children constitute most of the deaths in war zones, then male deaths don't matter or are there no male deaths within war zones?"

Request from Author for Publishing Guidance

rachel snyder writes: I know this is a longshot, but I just stumbled onto the chat string from March 2004, in which Adam and others spoke of my book, What There Is To Love About A Man (Sourcebooks, 2000).

I was heartened to see men validating my book! Yes, the book is out-of-print, though all rights have reverted to me and I am seeking to repackage, reformat, retitle, and remarket the material. The book was simply ahead of its time: too many women still too angry, and too many men oppressed by male-bashing and anti-patriarchal rhetoric! I was interviewed on more than 85 radio shows, and my heart sank when the exposure did not translate into sales.

Humor: "Moment of Clarity"

This is very funny, a 3.63 MB .mpg file. It should be available at the link until March 4, 2005. It's also really satisfying to see an otherwise mundane product like bottled water advertised with "the shoe on the other foot," so to speak.

Junk-Sci Update: Dentists Say We're Wimps

Dr. Dan writes "This report in the Chicago Sun Times begins, 'Put a guy in a dental chair, and he turns into a wimp.' That is the result of a survey conducted by the Chicago Dental Society. The tone of the article shows more amusement, than serious concern about male dental health.

One can only wonder if the reporter would have been more compassionate, or questioned the study’s validity, had the results been the opposite."

Missing Aristocrat's Wife Arrested on Murder Suspicion

French police have arrested the wife of a missing British aristocrat on suspicion of murder over his inexplicable disappearance. They arrested her brother too, apparently. Story here. The article's intimation is of course, predictably, that he "deserved it" because he was having an affair, or was suspected of doing so anyway.

Gee, guess that makes murder OK? Well, if you're female, anyway...

RADAR Alert: U.N. Conference Expected to Unleash Torrent of Anti-Male Propaganda

In 1995, the UN Commission on the Status of Women held a conference in Beijing which issued the "Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action". This document presents a distorted picture that focuses exclusively on ill treatment of women, while pretending that men's suffering does not exist. These distortions have served as the basis for male-hostile policies and laws throughout the world.

A Domestic Abuse Murderer Speaks

Luek writes "The convicted domestic abuse killer Clara Harris gives a rather self serving prison interview to the media recently. There are audio excerpt downloads of this interview available at this site too.

As you may remember she killed her husband by running over him with her car. She was given a 20 year prison sentence of which she will have to serve at least 10. And yes a man who did the same crime would have gotten more and probably the death penalty."

More on Koko the Gorilla: Third Woman Sues

I would laugh but it's so pathetic I can't. A third woman is suing Koko's caretakers over their request that she expose her breasts to the gorilla. Bear in mind, ALL the particpants here in this flap are female. [First post on MANN about this topic is here.]

Eventually though, I am sure someone will find a man to sue.
