NY Times Mag Major Piece on Father's Rights

Roy writes "The NY Times Magazine today published a major 10-page article on the Father's Rights Movement, covering both U.K. and U.S. groups and issues: The Fathers' Crusade

The piece is on whole a balanced overview of the movement of fathers fighting for more fairness in child custody decisions and in the Family Courts.

Lots of quotes from men leading the F4J campaigns, speaking in their own voices rather than being "spun" by fluff reporters."

Denver Post: A one-sided anti-male article

mens_issues writes "Former Broncos player Reggie Rivers wrote a condescending one-sided anti-male article in the Denver Post titled "Good news, guys: It's back to those good ol' sexist days." This was spurred by the rejection of an emergency contraception bill in the Colorado State House. While I agree that this action was misguided, Rivers makes the leap to saying that men want to keep women under control by keeping them pregnant.

The article is here.

UK Electorate Rejects "Positive Discrimination"

Rob writes "Fantastic news! British electorate today rejected a female candidate imposed in a constituency from an "all woman shortlist" for the United Kingdom's General Election. Peter Law resigned in protest from the Labour Party, stood as an independent and caused one of the biggest reverses in UK Election history by winning one of the safest Labour seats in the UK. 20,000 folk agreed with him. Let's hope this is the start of some common sense. And an acknowledgement that whether in politics, the work-place or just real life, women compete purely on their own merits without any help from the PC brigade."

Men Harm Themselves to Spread Feminist Misandry

Ray writes "This male bashing event apparently injures some men and helps spread feminist propaganda about sexual assault and gender violence. Here is brave site that provides valuable information to refute feminist propaganda, and it dares to ask Why Would A Woman Lie About Rape? Here you will find honest information that is not available at male bashing marches."

England's Guilty Plea Tossed while Evidence Destroyed in Tillman's Death

Pvt. Melissa England isn't even allowed to plead guilty when she wants to. Meanwhile, it appears as if evidence in Pat Tillman's death-by-accidental-friendly-fire was destroyed as part of a deliberate effort.

AB 1307 Defeated

Sorry to report this. I hope though this will be of inspiration:

We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender...

Ex-Top Model Seeks "Revenge" for Leaving Career

federico writes "Ok, this is funny. It's in an Italian newspaper.
I'm not going to translate the all article but basically this seems to be the story:
She was a model, then she met this billonare guy, and she decide to leave her "job" and be with him. So, of course, she started to use HIS money, HIS credit cards and so on and on spending up to 50/60,000 Euros a NIGHT!

P-Day celebration suppressed

Women's Worth?

Dittohd writes "I have a solution to this problem of women's housework being worth so much and them not being paid. All women who have husbands who are paid less than the $131,000 computed worth of women's childcare and housework should go out into the workforce and earn that money. We stupid, lowly paid men should be required by law, in these cases, to stay home. I wonder how much our worth would be computed at once we started staying home with our children?"

Washing machine fingers lazy male

Rob writes "When will some men get some self respect? This article tells of a Spanish male "inventor" who wanted to: "finish with macho man from the ice age who doesn't do anything around the house except drink beers". Based on fingerprint technology, it prevents the same person starting the washing machine twice in a row. Perhaps his next invention could be for the lawn mower start button, the garage door, the electric drill or some other hugely assumptive piece of stereotyping?"

Ed. note: It's hard to know what to list this one under. Maybe a new topic called "Self-Hating Men/Manholes" is needed!

Washington Post Actually Covers Female Arsonist

Do my eyes deceive me? Is it real? The Washington Post actually printed this, and in a Sunday edition no less! But alas, the tone is characteristically sympathetic to the arsonist, who is (not so) coincidentally, female. Get this from the article:

Danahey reminded Brown of his only child. He could easily imagine his free-spirited son trapped in a similar situation, another victim of impulse.

"Victim of impulse"? If it had been his son, you can be sure the author would not be using language like that to describe him!

I also find it real strange that this story appears in their "Style" section.

Speaking of Running off to Las Vegas...

It seems not just inconsiderate brides-to-be can be the only women running off to Vegas! USA Today covers the trend of women-only getaways, some including week-long hotel discounts (for women only) and no-men-allowed package deals, with trips to Chippendales-like strip clubs too!
