Australia: "Tampon tax to go"

Link here. Australian women don't even want to make this modest contribution to all the health and social services state governments provide exclusively for them, with all consumers set to subsidise the elaborate packaging and marketing of women's sanitary products. Excerpt:

'After an 18-year campaign, the 10 per cent tax on tampons and pads will be removed after states and territories agreed to make sanitary products exempt from the GST.

Treasurers met this morning to discuss the matter and have unanimously agreed to pass the Federal Government's proposal.

The GST on these products has long been described as unfair because products including condoms and Viagra are exempt.'

BUT... is toilet paper tax-free? The argument is that tampons are a hygienic necessity. Agreed, at least by modern standards. But isn't toilet paper also the same way? And is there a tax on that too?
