US in Top Ten for danger to women

Article here. Excerpt:

'The U.S. has been ranked in the top 10 most dangerous countries for women, making it the only Western nation to be named among the world’s worst guarantors of female rights and safety.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation surveyed 500 experts to determine where women were most at risk. Countries were ranked in six key areas: health care, sexual violence, nonsexual violence, cultural practices, discrimination and human trafficking.

Nine of the top 10 nations were in Asia, the Middle East or Africa. The only Western nation included was the U.S., which the foundation said was directly related to the #MeToo movement that rocked American society in the wake of rape and sexual harassment allegations against high-profile figures in 2017.'

I'm fine with spreading ideas around the world that make ppl terrified to come to the US. I mean, if we can convince the world we're a nation filled with insanely predatory men who prey relentlessly, constantly on women and girls, and we all carry guns and men are running around shooting places up all the time... then I'm fine with that.

Discouraging ppl from coming to America may seem rather hard-nosed, but isolationism is an appealing idea. In fact, seal the borders. You can leave. But not come back... unless you fill out the right paperwork beforehand. :)

N. America is one of the few places left on Earth not facing crippling overpopulation. Let's keep it that way.

But strictly speaking, ranking the US in the Top Ten for danger to anyone, much less women, is for lack of a better way to put it, shithouse rat-crazy.

'Suggesting that many of the world’s most grave problems have been solved, experts in women’s rights from around the world rank the United States among the 10 most dangerous countries for women.

Sadly, however, issues such as female genital mutilation, arranged marriage, rape as a weapon of war, honor killings, and maternal mortality haven’t stopped.

Rather, leading “experts” in their fields appear to have lost any perspective, categorizing the U.S. as almost as dangerous as Nigeria, where Boko Haram militants kidnap, rape, and sexually exploit women and girls.'
