Lydia Forson tweets her disregard for fathers day celebration

Article here. Excerpt:

'African Movie Academy Award winning Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson has found herself facing twitter backlash after she posted a controversial tweet to her page on Fathers Day.

In a tweet which has since been deleted, the “Keteke” actress said “I don’t see Mother’s begging and reminding everyone when it’s Mother’s day. We celebrate our mothers because we want to,not because they try to guilt us into it. So focus on being GOOD fathers and you don’t have to beg to be celebrated on Father’s day. #HappyFathersDay”

The post which was sent at 4:40am on a day which is supposed to be special for fathers who have been there for their families understandably did not go down well with people on the internet who bombarded her page with furious replies which then prompted the actress to make her account private.

Lydia Forson who is a self-acclaimed feminist and women advocate has a history with controversial posts mostly about men and other happenings in the country and this is just a case of deja-vu.

She deleted the post after the backlash but we have the screenshots.'

I have yet to see a man "beg" to be recognized on FD. In fact I have never even heard a man discuss an upcoming FD or talk abt what he wants for it. However I've heard plenty of women talk abt what they want for MD.

I have had ppl wish me happy FD this year bc they assume at my age I must have reproduced. I don't bother to tell them that no, I have not replicated (that I know of anyway), have no plans to do so, nor do I recommend it given the risks it entails and overpopulation problem.

So I just say "thank you".

I must say it sure is nice to see someone dumb enough to make a comment like that get taken to task for it.

Happy Father's Day! I know it will be for me now. :)
